My sister inlaw, and her friend, were lilled by a drunk driver last year. It was very sad of course. As is always is the case. As much as I would like to, this isnt about her. Its about the guy who killed her. I found out he had already had 2 dwis prior to this one. So he was being charged with felony murder. Which of course he should be. Well heres his story. In the accident the crash was so bad that he ended up in a coma for awhile. Im unsure how long. Now this is where it gets really freaking funny. ( I dont mean that in a comedic sort of funny). After he was out on bond, he went out drinking with a buddy. Well apparently he was to drunk to drive. So his drunken buddy decided to drive. You can probably figure ou what happens here. Yup you guessed it, they were in an accident that killed him. So heres my dilemma, why should I care that hes dead? I mean he did really screw us up. My 10 yo daughter still talks about it. So again, why should I care??

PS I have drunk (drank?) way too much wine tonight so I may have slurred my typing a bit. 

Grieve for her and her friends loss.  Cherish their memory.  And don't worry about him.  He has gotten his punishment.

Given that you're asking about whether/why you should care, it sounds as though you already do, to a certain degree. And, given that he was a fellow human being who's been killed, I think that is reason enough to care about his tragic (and horribly ironic) death. However, with your sister-in-law's murder in mind, I don't think anyone would *expect* you to care. So while on the purely human level I don't think it's a bad thing to care, it's not like people will (or should) judge you too harshly if you don't.
