Am I the only person offended by this?

ok, so the following is a rant that I posted on a trans-themed email list. It is in reference an exposé written by folks within the gender variant community about a proponent of  ->-bleeped-<- theory who happens to be a trans woman. Now this person has said some messed up things about people I respect, and she is accused of a number of other things which I have heard second hand that, if true, are very disturbing. Having said that, I wrote the following post in response to certain aspects of that exposé that really really bothered me as a trans woman and activist. For anonymity reasons, I have omitted/deleted names of the person in question, as well as those who published the exposé. I ask those who wish to leave comments to respect this anonymity...

Litmus-tests are generally made for the self-assurance of those inventing the particular test. Always a good idea not to particularly trust much of anyone who underlines their self belief with being a "true" anything. Why?

It's a pose.

Other than a dog, how often have you met a true anything? Even that is questionable. My dog def. wants to eat, poo, sleep and requires an amount of personal attention on a daily basis. Hmmmm, humans do roughly the same thing with a few extra throw ins like work, taking care of others, paying bills etc. Don't let some self absorbed somethin' somethin' get under your skin. Take it in, poo it out and get on with your life

Superficial fanny kissing friends are a dime a dozen, a TRUE FRIEND however is PRICELESS

I gotta say Julia has a great way of speaking the truth. The whole Bailey-Lawrence theory is like religion is to evolution, a belief and not science. They're a lot like the APA, inventing disorders for careers and controlling people's lives, forgetting it's simple human nature and individual expression and behavior.

It looks like this person reads Susan's.  How interesting that she should publish a blog about the same bunch of people with almost an identical title as I did.

If a certain proponent of the HST/AGT dichotomy would fall on the AG side, and if that theory disparages or at least categorizes " ->-bleeped-<-" as not "true transsexualism," then she's the one calling herself an AG and not a "true transsexual," is she not? Is she offended by this?

But personal attacks based on her looks are certainly not germane.

I guess I missed something.

I was referring to this:

QuoteIt is insinuated that she must not be a "real" transsexual because she still has facial hair. I guess that means that I'm not a real transsexual either.

... and stuff along those lines.

I dunno if Julia Serano reads here at all. But I'd be willing to affirm that she is unlikely to steal or need to steal anything from anyone who posts here. "Am I the only one offended by this" is not a particularly unusual selection of words and has been written in many places.

As for whether or not the person making the statements on the list-serve is Kiira Triea (who considers herself HSTS or intersex as far as her writing is concerned, or Willow Arune or even Anne Lawrence or some other person who is self-labelled autogynephilic is totally unclear as Julia doesn't give names, even those that may be pseudonyms.

I don't think she plagiarized you, Kristi. :)

Oh I couldn't care less about that.  I just thought it was a fun coincidence.

When I first read the title of this thread, I wondered why I hadn't been notified of updates since I had posted in the first thread that Kristi put out.  It is funny how simliar it is, and on the same topic of auto-ghynephilia.  (Julia's is dated 2 months earlier)  Oh well, things come in three's, looking for the third topic entitled "Am I the only person offended by this?".   Hopefully it won't be about this topic, which still leaves me a bit perturbed.

I'm big a fan of Julia Serano's, having read and agreed with most of the points in her book "Whipping Girl", and seeing her speak at the Pride event in Toronto was a pleasure.  When I re-read my post on Kristi's original thread, I can see where I draw heavily from Julia's thought patterns, purely subconsciously, and how closely it resembles her rant listed here lol.   I've been Julia Serano brainwashed!  Actually, I just think she's so right on, and I am happy to have her as a activist for our cause, even if she has a mouth like a sailor  ;D

There sure does seem to be a common response to everything surrounding the whole BBL .... <can't find a polite word for it>.
