I saw the Miss Evans programme. Surgeons are not usually expected to know about GID but Psychiatrists and endocrinologists are.
Well, I have to agree with your first statement, but there is always a chance of some local knowledge.
In terms of what surgeons know of GID, I think if they are treating a patient then they should take a little interest.

Like I said before it does seem that we will not find it so easy to identify surgeons in the UK and their results, because the work may be handled in a low profile way, with few repetitions. If I ever get there, I think I will be selling the car and heading off-shore.

On a side note, I thought the scariest thing on the Miss Evans program was telling her patients avoiding coughing at all costs when post-Op, for fear of ejecting the new plumbing. Not something I had really thought about before then.
