A couple of summers ago, I was alerted that someone had written an article on Encyclopedia Dramatica.
Since August 4, 2007, I have been negotiating a favorable resolution, and negotiations seem to be in a standstill.
There are two other M2F's (Kelly Martin and Francine Rogers,) and judging from their photos--they seem to be more controversial than I am.
According to my web site... on November 11, 2008
Quote
Encyclopedia Dramatica, a satirical web site, has pulled the privlige to allow Aeverine to contribute to their web site, after refusing to grant her the right to repair her own article.
"I have offered numerous opportunities since the dispute began in August 2007 to reach a favorable resolution that would bring the dispute to an end," Nieves said. "They did not care for the GLBT community, in their preference to remove me from their site rather than work towards a resolution."
Nieves continued, "Despite progress and just as I was about to come to a compromise, Encyclopedia Dramatica took the extreme step of banning me from their site. I had asked for a fair resolution to bring the dispute to an end, but it was Encyclopedia Dramatica's preference to pull yours truly off the site."
Without the express permission and written consent from yours truly, Encyclopedia Dramatica can post defaming images of yours truly by other users on the site. In exchange for that permission, Encyclopedia Dramatica is demanding that yours truly stop living as a woman--that will not happen, as well as other outrageous demands.
I will keep negotating with Encyclopedia Dramatica and will work to get this resolved real soon. In the meantime, there is Wikipedia and the new INNewsCenter Wiki.
Two weeks later, I released this message...
QuoteEncyclopedia Dramatica and Aeverine Nieves has failed to reach a deal.
Please know that we have tried for the past year and a half to reach a favorable agreement, so that things would be back to normal.
I know that we are disappointed in the outcome of our negotiations with Encyclopedia Dramatica, especially since we have successfully reached deals with every other web site and partners who recognize our fair agreement. Without fair and equitable treatment, I would not be able to continue to provide top quality items that is most important.
We will continue to negotiate with Encyclopedia Dramatica. Unfortunately, we do not know if, or when, we will reach an agreement.
I thank you for your tremendous support throughout this dispute. I have received hundreds of emails from WTOR/WXXC viewers and as well as other sources who understand my position and are willing to stand by our side.
We hope you will continue supporting yours truly throughout this time, and continue working with yours truly.
The fact that I have agreements with every other web site (besides TV News Talk and ED) and businesses makes the failure to reach such agreement with ED even more frustrating.
I was born in the same county and state where ED's owner lives and for the life of me I can't really understand why she's doing this. The only thing I can think of is that is her way to intimidate the GLBT community in hopes of affecting the outcome of the negotiations. I'm hopeful that ED will come to their senses to realize they did something wrong and come through for the GLBT community.
