Im confused about what like things u have to do before you get rle like do u have to be on hormones and what if u dont pass does that still count and do u need a letter from a gender therapist

Um... I never went through any of that HBS stuff to get T. My doctor could tell pretty well that I was a dude and wasn't changing. I'd been full-time for over a year at that point, though. What are you wanting the rle for, anyway?

I think that applies mostly to mtfs with regards to bottom surgery.  Maybe it applies to bottom surgery for ftms also, I don't know as I'm not interested in having that done. 

Most therapists want 3 months of therapy before referral for T; top surgeons (many, but not all) want a letter from your therapist also and the time for that varies.  My therapist was more of a stickler for time frames because her license is on the line, though she knew from the first visit there were no issues to keep me off T or from surgery.

IMO real life experience starts when you start presenting as your true gender.  I don't think there is a list of must-dos for that, like I don't think you have to have your name changed, or be out everywhere, etc.  But most are taking those steps at about that time.
