Congrats must go to Heath Ledger as it was last year I was on here upset he had passed away. A year later he has an Oscar.
To be honest I walked out of the Dark Knight movie because of Batman's poor performance. I went back and saw it again for Heath Ledger's performance.. He definately played the role of a lifetime and won an Oscar for it..Deservedly so. I hope Heath comes back in spirit for the other movies he made.. I miss him...
I remember him saying in an interview it was his best work and he had more fun than he had ever had making that movie. It was edited after he died and they did a good job. Congrats!
Im not sure about Hugh Jackman's performance at the Oscar's though. A bit corny.

Christian Bale was SO NOT bad!  :P

The only problem was that nobody else in the film, except maybe Aaron Eckhart, did nearly as brilliant a job as Heath did. Everybody paled in comparison.

DISCLAIMER: This is an opinion! Please don't hurt me! ;)

I agree with the m->-bleeped-<-ie's opinion.

Christian Bale is cute. But his voice as Batman is a little corny..I suppose it worked but there were a lot of critics who thought it was over done.

I kinda like CB as Batman too, in the same way I like D Craig as Bond.  He seems closer to the original concept and character.  Keaton was awesome as Bruce Wayne pretending he is not Batman, but was a bit too indecisive for the Batman part of it.  George Clooney and Val Kilmer were both horrible choices, I can imagine who had to have Hollywood sex to get that casting.  Adam West was great in his own way, but the TV Batman was a different deal, so its not fair to compare.  Anyway, CB has a well known rep in the business, and in the real press too now I think, of being one of the biggest jerks to ever walk onto a set (and kids, that's a hell of list to beat) with frequent outbursts, tantrums, and screaming tirades.  In a way, that's far more Batman I think.

Remember Batman at root is not a super hero, he's not from Planet Krypton, or bite by a spider, or having some freak mutation.  He's just a rich guy bent on revenging his parents, and that's all too human that kind of blood lust he has to do violence to people he blames for their deaths.

And, OK, Heath did a bang up job, and should have got the award even if he had lived.  But, if there were any justice in the world - or even in Hollywood, Danny DeVito would have at least been nominated for doing Oswald Cobblepot (The Penguin) in such a mind blowing way.

Which is why I like the character so much. He's real, or at least could be, and was always a role-model for me in terms of channelling one's negative reactions towards something positive.
