I went and saw this movie with my mother the other day because she wanted to see why it got so many Oscars. And then I came home and saw on the News that the little boy who starred as Jamil was beaten by his father for not answering questions by reporters when he got back to India. Apparently the little boty was jet-lagged.
How can this happen?
Culture Shock allright.
Apparently his father apologised to the media for hitting his child later!
This is terrible..The story was about a boy growing up in Mumbai in India and going from the slums to be on 'Who wants to be a Millionaire.' You would think that this child star would have gotten out of the derogative lifestlye and wouldnt be persecuted on returning home.

Nothing changes. People don't change. Greed doesn't change.  Hate doesn't change.

We are very lucky to live in a country where for a short moment in time, the middle class achieved some level of equality.  That is in decline now... but it was nice while it lasted.
