Which restroom do you use? Is it legal to use the women's restroom in your area? Do you stand or sit?

cindybc

When I started living full time in the female persona I used the restroom appropriate for a woman. You go in, you do your job then leave unless you are with a partner or meet someone you know.

Cindy, Thanks for the response. I have used either in the past. Here in Utah it is actually illegal to use the restroom of the opposite sex. I don't think most people pay attention. Only once did I have a small problem. I was at a pub and owner preferred I use the mens room. Another client saw me and got upset. He was farmer sort of guy in bib overalls and smelled of cow dung and sour milk. He didn't say anything to me. However, he was angry with a lady friend who was with me. He felt she was associated with a gay and refused to speak to her ever again. I beleive she was fortunate and she feels the same way.

Well I didn't really pass all that well in the first couple of years but never the less I was full time female and my ID had a females name on them and I had my DL which had the F. I never bothered with a carry letter and I suppose the saints' must of been watching over me because I never run into any problems using the ladies room.

Like I said I just went in and did what I had to do and left, unless I had one or the other of my two strongest supporting girl friends with me, I didn't feel as pressured to have to leave the washroom like it was on fire having one of them with me, if you know what I mean. I believe you are correct about no one really pays any attention unless you do something dumb to attract undo attention.

Are you seeing a therapist and are you part or full time in fem? If you are, you could ask your therapist to give you a Carry letter, at least that way you can produce a reason to be using the women's washrooms.

One time I used the women's stall at a gay club.At the time I was wearing 4 Inch heels and P P'd standing. When I came out of the stall there was a bit of laughter. It was a Drag Queen friend.

Cindy,  A TG friend of mine told me a story about another post-op TG her in Utah who could not get the gender changed on her DL because the birth cert. said male.  She went a local park and was playing volley ball with the guys wearing only shorts and shoes. Of course the police showed up and proceeded to write a citation for lewdness. At court the charges were dropped and the DL was changed to indicate female.

DawnAlicia

When in doubt I have always used the women's restroom since statistically a woman is less likely to pop me in the jaw if I get read.  I have rarely had a problem but I have been confronted a few times although one time it was when I was using the women's dressing room in a department store.

DawnAlicia, I never considered the possibilty of being assaulted. Many times while dressing my excitement gets in the way of my common sense. Once  a guy was concerned over the restroom I used and the owner of the establishment informed him that I was instructed to use the men's room. Then she politely ask him to leave it it upset him. P.S. You are very pretty. Genevieve

DawnAlicia

Thank you Genevieve!  I have actually been confronted by a girl's boyfriend in a bar about using the women's bathroom.  However, I have never had it rise to the level of assault.  Truth is that most guys still have the instinct not to hit a girl even if he knows its a guy dressed as a girl.  However, a guy dressed as a girl still provokes fear in a man much more readily than it does in a woman and therefore a confrontation of some sort is much more likely if you are in the men's bathroom all girled up.

DawnAlicia, Do you think maybe their transphobia is brought on because it challenges their masculinity. Maybe they would like to try it and question their own masculinity. Or, very possibly they are angry with themselves for having carnal thoughts.

I think any law that prevents a "man" from using a "woman's" toilet could easily be challenged and beaten. Once you bring up the less-known intersex conditions and, say AIS, there's no way such a law could be justified. The only way they could know for sure is if they did a chromosome test before anybody went to the can. Such laws really just mean it's against the law for anyone to use a women's room who doesn't pass without question.

Well there are cAIS women who will have to use the mens' room if they do that.  And according to Zoe Brain, there are 46xx men who have fathered children that will have to use the ladies' room...

...never mind those of us who required surgical intervention to transition.

After doing further study into AIS I think Karen may be right. It's a very complex syndrome. Probably all people have AIS to a certain degree. Genevieve

Look for the "one hole" "Family" restroom if you can.  If you do use a women's or ladies restroom, DO sit down, even if your knees hit the ceiling because of your heels, and DO close the door!  A moment at the mirror is OK to fix your lipstick, but not to apply a thck coat of new beard camoflage.   ;D  Smile if spoken to, but do not carry on loud conversations in baritone!!  Luckily I am a high tenor, who can get to alto if I have to.  Fewer women are afraid of you than men are!!  If you are with a GG friend, have her go with you TO the RR and stand in front of your door.  Girls do that as a matter of just life.  Even a TG friend can do this, and it looks like you are doing the real girl thing, but if told to leave, be a lady about it, not a %$#& transbroad!!  If you tell people ahead of time you will be told NO, but afterward, they will just shrug for the most part.

I started my transition in Utah in 1986.  It was NOT fun.  If you don't pass, don't go into the women's restroom.  If you do pass, SIT.  For cryin out loud don't give the enemy ANY ammunition for crise sake.  They'll hang you!

Of course, my advice is given in a spirit of jest.  So read my comments as I wrote them, laughing at myself ... remembering some not so fond experiences with the depravity of humored frosting.

Are you LDS?

Cindy Jones, I was baptized LDS at a young age in Lyman,Wyo. I went to church one time. What a bunch of B.S. Church cut into my fishing time. I studied the history of the mormon church. Merely another weird cult. Still is,a very big cult. Very wealthy also. They have some recent changes concerning the LGBT community. I think the new rule is you can be gay as long as you remain celibate. Thanks for asking. Hugs, Genevieve

Well for me I still use the female restroom, to use the male restroom I'd have to get an STP device and packer and those are too expensive for me now.
