Last year was crazy my mum wnet into depression and i didnt now what to do with myself.. I told u guys my story and u all told me to see my GP.. i mad one apontment last year thats how ->-bleeped-<-ed up it was... the day i was ment to go i found out i didnt even have one.. But today i made one myself.. without telling anyone i see him on monday and i will tell him everythink. as im getting depressed and doing things that i fill if it goes to fare i may regret it... Anyways im debating wether i should go alone or with some i have no friends so that out it either my mum of my older sister.. Thats if i will take someone.. I fill like i should go alone.. but at the same time i would like my sister to go.. as she doesnt really now how this has effected me.. My mum has hard it all before but my sister has only hard it from my mums mouth and she tends  to light things up.. (Lets just say my mum like everythink to be about her) My and my sister have become close since she left the house 8 years ago... But since this shes become my rock.. I love her to  death shes there whenever i need to chat. whenever i want to get away from my house... alto she dont understand she can pretty much guess. she sees the pain im going though im so glade to have her.. shes stoped me from killing myself at times. thats why i have to seee the doc... get things on the way and stop trying to blank it out... i now whats going on with me now i have to make a life of my own instede of my mum trying to make it for me.. I never had a teen life so i want to make every breath i breth the best and my happest..

So just some advice.. Do u think it would be easyer if i take someone. or go alone? everytime i tell someone i get nerves.. I now the doc sees things like this all the time.. But i dunno its the filling i got when i told my mum...

If it were me I would go alone.  I think it would be easier to express how you feel if their isn't anyone with you that you know.  I know sometimes when I try to explain things and there are other people around I tend to sugar coat some things or just leave certain things out.  Good luck man and just try to stay positive!

I didnt go today. We are snowed in cant get car out of driveway and no busses are running. the worst snow since 1991  but even worse..anyways i cancaled it thismorning and rebooked for thuersday. But i gota diff docter a women.Mum seems to think it would be best with a women, i havent seen my doc since i was 8 so i dont think it makesany diff what docter i see.

What would i say exacley just how i fill?

I also live in Hampshire, so I'm snowed in too..

Doctor's appointments here tend to be relatively short, so like you said, just say how you feel.

Although your doctor will know what you mean, she may or may not know the procedure to deal with your request if she has no previous experience, so don't be surprised if she asks you back for a second appointment.

If she wants more information, suggest she contacts "GenderTrust" on the web or by phone. Alternatively we can help you to find any information you need for her.

Good Luck...at least the snow should be gone by Thursday.

I just got back from seeing my GP.. all want ok was a lil nerves and had a lil cry but she was really nice and understud she felt i was pretty sure about myself and refered me she said either to a locil place or strat to a national place in london.. so thats cool... 1st step to me being who i to be i now is just the begining but i think that deseves a drink

i got a letter today the day after i had a really ruf night and was really down,


it said


dear HaZard

i havent forgotten you at all, but i am having some problems working out were to make referral.

therefore in order to avoid you wasting your time, i have been in touch with psychatrist who is clinical director for the whole area and he is trying to find out for me currently whether i am allowed to send you directly to charing cross(london), or whether you have to see a local team first.

I am sorry for the delay but it is taking some times for me to get the information back. as soon as i hear what i am supposed to do i will organise things,

I would actually read that as quite positive..

I know it's taken a while, but at least she is letting you know what is going on, and has some sense of urgency.

If the area director has no set rules, you might get a direct referral and avoid the local step, which could save time.

Yes, I would treat that as good news...

Not sure if things are still the same at Charing X as years ago but i would get advice from others here before going. I found them rude, patronising, sexist and downright childish in some of their behaviour and never went back. A Caribbean friend of mine had a really hard time from them although I believe she eventually got srs from them, I've lost contact with her.

Anyone else had any experience of Charing X?

They just put me right off and I did things my way, always found those who work in the sector even crazier than myself which isn't a good start! Seriously, have any of you ever met a psychiatrist that seemed sane?

You have got to reamin positive Hazard, there is always a risk, but it sounds like your doctor is trying to sort things out for you.

From what I hear they are not as bad as they were, and they are begining to slowly catch up with the 20th Century. I have not been there myself, but reports from others here and on other sites have reported acceptable experiences, though not as good as the private clinics (as one would expect).

I does seem that some areas will fund clinics other than CHX these days.

when i 1st wrote on this board and said about me watching a documentry about danny lee sharkey, well i think he goes to charing cross. cant remeber tho. but he said they helped him alot, (if that was the plce he went) but it could have changed.
