Looks like I either have to take a full semester off or do coursework right after surgery.
It's top surgery. Will I be able to type? Can I sit up? They won't allow me to take even a day off while in class (probably cause it's online). So any ideas on how cognizant, alive, and able to move I'll be right after surgery?

On the one hand, I really would like at least a week to recover before getting back into heavy papers and such. But that's impossible. It's either take off a full nine weeks or take off none.

How up to doing stuff were you after surgery?

I had full mobility the next day so yeah you can move/sit up its fine..

I can do everything that I need to do daily find I have full mobility! I am also back at work and probably could have gone back last week! :P

But we are all different!

As long as you're not lifting anything you'll be fine.  But you will be more tired than usual and likely need to nap a lot more, esp. during that first week.  I was instructed not to take my binder off, and it was a bit tight (felt anyway) and there was some discomfort from that.

I'd try to make sure you're well rested before participating in class so you don't nod off.  Even though it's not painful and won't really limit your mobility much, surgery is an insult and trauma to your body, and your body is expending energy trying to heal.  As long as you respect that you'll be good.

I was able to move around, walk, and shop the day after I had it done. Everyone's different, though. If it's an online course -- heck, you'll be fine. Are you doing it from home or is this an in-classroom online thing? Either way, you should be okay if you get home and rest right afterwards.
Lock up yer daughters.
