But surely the thing to do "Would" be to change your birth certificate and then fight for your rights as a lesbian???

I still just do not get what possible legal arguments can be allowing this ban. How can discriminating against someone because of their sexual orientation be constitutional?

I've heard it mentioned that "it's not in the best interests of the state," implying that male and female parents are a better environment. But once the state starts deciding who is and isn't worthy of parenthood (aside from criminal abuse and neglect), we're ALL in trouble.

It seems to me that people - judges included - just cannot keep their religious and legal opinons seperated.

Well, there are numerous groups around the state that are going to work to push this even harder and it will be put to trial once again.
