Good evening all!

After an embarrassing day of walking around at work pulling my jumper down because my crotch in my trousers split..  :embarrassed: I have decided to try sowing.. well its not the first time I have given it a go but I haven't got any better at all!
So I was just wondering if anybody knows how to sow like socks, jumpers, trousers??

Also because I am a large guy I have too buy big jeans, so the length is always too long. So I was wondering how exactly I go about using a sowing machine to do this.. I mean it doesn't have to be perfect just passable!

I have asked my mother, yet she would never teach me. And also takes to long to do anything what so ever!  :-\

They really should have taught me in High School, but hey that's another useful lesson they chuck out of the window!  >:(

Cut the bottom off the trousers.
do a /\/\/\/\/\/ stitch along the cut edge so it doesn't fray.
Fold the edge up inwards by about a centimeter.
Do a straight stitch about a millimeter away from the folded edge, and another along the cut edge for that double stitched look.

Also, my pants go in the crotch a fair bit too. I do "by hand" repairs of it 'til they're too mucked up to work at all anymore.

Here is a demonstration of a Back Stitch- Hand Sewing Stitches : How to Sew a Back Stitch

This is a great stitch to learn because it adds more strength and can be applied to different cloths. When sewing (<-correct spelling ;) ) your pants together again just take the edges of the ripped part and place them side by side, pull the needle and thread through. Then loop back over the edge and a little farther up the fabric and repeat.

I'm hoping this makes sense because it's much easier to demonstrate than describe. I guess I could make an instructional vid if you're interested...

So, sowing?

You're going to sow some seeds and grow new trousers?

I never knew that was possible... :D

I was thinking, hey if your a real guy, do what real guys do, get some chic to sew it for you, lacking that, take them to a tailor.
FIGHT APATHY!, or don't...
