Hi,

I am a fully transitioned MTF.  This is not a simple question, because there are so many options.  For instance, you may or may not find that you need/want breast enhancement surgery.  If you have a light beard, you will need less electrolysis.  If you aren't going bald that will save money.  I will give you a range and assume that you have not yet begin gender identity therapy or hormones.  I will also assume that you do not need facial feminization surgery (but will show that cost separated out).  It will cost you a minimum of about $50,000 going the cheapest possible way.  FFS is a different story.  I had mine done in two steps by Dr Ousterhout in San Francisco for about $68,000 total.  For my transition, I needed everything except breast enhancement and I ended up spending close to $200,000.  Hope this helps.

Randy: Lol, sweet. Thank you! What was the $600 for? Sorry, I'm slow. lol.

Julia: Well, I'm not sure if this helps. I'm going the opposite direction than you went. I'm FTM.

My original total with therapy came to about $3,000. If you cut out the therapy, that goes down to about $600. But that's just me, if you're not like me (i.e. not screwed up in the head  :D) therapy probably won't cost you that much.

So, minus any surgeries, for me about:
Transition without therapy = $600
Transition with only required therapy (how much I needed to get hormones) = $1380
Current transition in total = $3000

But of course things will vary, like how much your therapist charges, how much your county charges for a name change, and how much hormones will run you.

Ohhh, okay. Kewl. Thank you! ^.^

I would like to note that everyone is giving a one time purchase T price.  You're likely going to be paying for T for the rest of your life unless you go off of it at some point so how much you spend on T will depend on how long you live.

So, if a vial of T costs $100 for example, that's until you run out and buy more.  No one seems to be mentioning this.  You've got to factor way more in for testosterone that one vial/bottle/tube/whatever.

I only wrote in one because I was noting how much transition has cost me so far. I've yet to use up the first vial.

Ohhh. Right. Yeah, wasn't sure how long I'd need it. But, makes sense that it'd be forever. Lol. ty.

I wasn't picking on you specifically.  I just looked back and the fact that I picked $100 for hormones was completely arbitrary to the fact that it cost you $100.  I chose it because someone I know pays that much.  Many other people only included the one vial of T.

Yes, but if you're paying $60 a vial, and each vial lasts 4 months (unless you're using too much), that means you're only paying $180 a year. My wife pays about $300 a month when she's on HRT... that's $3600 a year. Massive difference.
