Basically says transsexuals of both genders (ftm and mtf) have better luck with female partners than male partners.

Interesting, fairly understandable when one thinks about it.

Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if people of either sex fare better with female partners than with male, as far as relationship stability goes. Women are socialized to do a lot of the relationship maintenance stuff - communication, etc. - more than men are.

Also, if that's what the article says, the abstract is a bit misleading. The abstract says that FtM's have more relationship stability because we're socialized as female and learn that relationship maintenance stuff better than MtF's.

yeah, at first it says ftms have better luck in stable relationships than mtfs, then goes on to say this could be because a lot of ftms are in relationships with women, then says ftms and mtfs both have better luck with women. not sure i agree with the premise of ftms having better luck in relationships, but don't have enough info either way. just thought this part of it was interesting.

I'm still keeping my hubby since he's the most intelligent, stable, rational, reasonable, and wonderful person I've dated to date.

Not having anyone in my life, you could not prove it be me.  I have been in relationships with women that ended badly.

If I ever get into a relationship with anyone, I would post the results.

Straight women can get along with FtM but only some. Straight women and MtF is possible but most of the time it will end in divorce, break up or never even occur.

There are plenty of lesbians and bisexual women who are not like that at all, I speak from personal experience.

I found with many women gender was not an issue. But it was only friendship. I did have a lesbian attracted to me once. It resulted in a minor confrontaion with her girlfriend. I vacated the premises and avoided any hassle.

And that's why if you would read the whole post carefully you would know that I said sexual orientation shouldn't be used as a guide to tell how a women is.

I 2nd that.  I'm married to one now and she totally accepts me as the woman I am.  We have several lesbian friends who totally accept me as the woman I am.  I'm not saying there arn't some lesbians who feel that way, there are, but I don't think most of them are like that.

I'm curious.  Do any of you FtMs who date men ever find any biased gay men?

Uh, that's what I was about to say. This is a refereed journal. The abstract will be accurate. The article might indeed say something about female partners of FTMs (I haven't had a chance to read the article yet), but that's not the focus here.

What does this have to do with the article, though? What about the socialization process of female-bodied people who later transition to male bodies? I think that this article (or at least the abstract) has important implications about relationships in general, at least in U.S. culture. One might, for instance, posit that since the stereotypical female socialization process privileges emotional bonds over physical ones, an FTM does indeed have a better chance of a long-term relationship with a woman than with a man. Or one might question how much of this socialization process truly is located within cultural norms and expectations and what a more "female" upbringing might do for little cisgender boys who wind up in straight or gay relationships. And so on.

Same here, I married as a TS and my wife is the greatest blessing I've ever received. (bound my chest and cut my hair for the religious ceremony in a Muslim country) As for friends, nearly all my friends are gay women and I've never had the slightest problem from them. If anything they've always encouraged me in regards to gender.

I have however in the past twice encountered problems from extreme separatist lesbians of the "Janice Raymond Tendency" but frankly who cares. Two weird lesbians among dozens isn't a problem.
