Tell me everything you know about testosterone...how you or someone else felt, the effects, EVERYTHING.

it is usually suspended in oil.  most people inject this.

some people use a gel or cream and it is absorbed through the skin.

effects?  ask any guy who went through puberty.  :P

IT BUUUUURNS!

Well, I didn't like it, but... OKAY! Serious information!

Um... well, you get more acne, more musles (sp?), more penis, taller, more manly looking, you grow hair in the wierdest places, and you get this annoying bulge in your throught. >.<

I guess for a FtM that would be everthing except for the taller.

Costs less than I thought it would, the labs cost more than I thought they would. You can take it many different ways I have mostly read about people using the gel or shots. My shots are every week, I have read some people do biweekly. You tube is a great place to find out about how it affects different people differently.
The beginning is like a teenage boy puberty, mostly read about Acne, hungry a lot, tired a lot (already feel this after week 1), higher sex drive, muscle growth.
definitely check out YouTube.

Hey! Some of us are still cute guys. :P

One of the best T resources is Hudson's FTM Guide: http://www.ftmguide.org/

When I took my first shot, it was a whole lot of .... nothing. At first. Then I felt this sense of calming. I have a pretty long fuse before T and now even more so. I sleep more soundly (I'm told I snore more). I have more interest in sex and I am enjoying growing a beard some (it's been 10 months now and it's developing quite nicely). As myles said, it did cost a lot less than I expected (which is fine) and I've gotten used to self-injecting at this point. I've noticed more muscle build and hips gone (yay!).

But more than anything, those physical changes have made me look in the mirror for the first time and love seeing the person looking back.

Eh, I don't think so. T might be 'stronger' than estrogen, but a lot of FTMs end up looking younger than they are when they're on T still.

The doses are pretty much up to your doctor anyway. Taking testosterone isn't going to make you look like a cave man unless it's in your genetics to look that way, lol. Everyone reacts to changes in T differently, for some the changes are very slow and gradual.

I'm going to have to agree with Myles that youtube is a good source to watch the changes in action.

Due to a variety of surgical complications and issues my father had an orchiectomy. (No, it didn't have to do with cancer, no worries people.)

He's now on testosterone injections and has been for about 11 years (though there was a 6 month stint on pills several years back). Some immediate (...within a year) changes versus his natural testosterone levels were

1) increased body hair (in places that embarrassed him, like on his back)
2) increased sexual interest
3) quicker to anger
4) dramatically increased muscle growth
5) drastically increased energy

Since then he's stabilized quite a bit and he's only dealing with points 1 and 5. I only knew about 2 because he'd never shut up about it. ~.~ He's also disabled for a variety of reasons, so the extra energy keeps him moving about which, regardless of what anyone says, is good for him. He does have a hormonal spike (I guess this is common with injections?) which causes mood swings and makes everyone want to avoid him for a few days.

After watching him for so long I tend to think that the testosterone from injections is on some level different from normal testosterone. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but watching a genetic male who has to take testosterone and the changes it's made in him makes it seem like an obvious conclusion to come to.

Luna, it's also possible that your Dad's T was low before he started taking injections, from natural causes, so the dose he gets in injections is high for him. Those symptoms sound like the symptoms transguys get when the dose is too high.

And your dad's dose shouldn't have been high enough to send him through another puberty because he'd already been through one.

It's possible. I mean, I remember him saying they've lowered his levels more than a few times. ;)
