Want to be part of a documentary?

I've received a grant from Williams College to produce an independent documentary on queer-identified people with developmental disabilities and mental illness. The project will be a ninety-minute film that addresses how these psychological differences affect the lives of the GLBT population and how the queer community accomodates them. This is a subject about which very little literature has been published and that the queer community may not always be equipped to deal with, especially when it involves transpeople.

So I'm asking the susans.org community: want to be part of this? If you or someone you know (a) live in Oregon, Washington, or northern California or can travel there (b) are a member of the GLBT community and (c) have an intellectual disability (including autism or Asperger's syndrome) or a mental illness, PM me or post to this thread if you'd like to do an on-camera interview and share what your experiences bring to the GLBT table.

Also, if you're a therapist, teacher, activist, physician, or anyone else who works or interacts with people with intellectual disabilities and you'd like to talk about your experiences about how the intellectually disabled interact with the queer community, I'd love for you to be a part of this.

Anyway, thanks for listening! I'm hoping this project will increase queer/disabled visibility and understanding and that the trans community will benefit from it.

How soon? I'll be in California (Bay Area) from this Saturday until Tuesday the... 14th? I'm bipolar, so I don't know if that would help your doc, but let me know. After the 14th, I'll be in Colorado.

Doesn't look like that'll work -- I'll be in Massachusetts until late May.
