The transgender community constantly struggles over what terms are appropriate, correct, or acceptable. And not everyone whom most people consider transgender likes that term. I can be labeled transgender, transsexual, gender queer, gender f__k, androgyne, non-op transsexual, woman, woman born male, woman with a transsexual history, woman with transsexual experience, queer, pre-op transsexual, gender variant, and more.

Ridiculously enough, in some online discussion groups, much of the discussion involves someone taking offense at one of these terms.

FairyGirl

this is a great article- I must admit I get pretty riled when people start categorizing, especially when it seems to be just for status or whatever. Thanks for posting this!  ;)
