Friends, family and members of the transgender community gathered on Tuesday night at Lincoln Park for a candlelight vigil to honor Angie Zapata.

About 60 people attended the vigil, which featured speeches by Steve Brown, retired pastor of Family of Christ Presbyterian Church, as well as Angie Zapata's sister, Monica Zapata. After lighting candles in her name and observing a moment of silence, those at the vigil turned their attention to remembering Angie Zapata, who was killed in July 2008.
