Why some trans people might assume the worse...

Bitch magazine just did a profile of cartoonist Erika Moen and touched on a comic strip Moen did that looked at the fetishization of trans men by some lesbians which has made some ripples in the trans communitities.

Admittedly, I only saw the original out of context, but personally I read the original as a tongue-in-cheek critique. But -- particularly when seen just on its own -- I can also see how it can be read as dismissing objections about being objectified. And in fact a trans blogger put out a reworded version of the original comic that made the point about fetishization much more bluntly. (Bitch has both versions included in their profile.)

I thought the comic funny, myself. Though I'm a mtf who gets kind of creeped out by people with a trans woman fetish. Do any of the fellas here have a problem with the strip?

If I listed out the various human qualities that have been the subject of sexual fetishization, well... men, women, barley legal, grannys, MILF, hairy guys, hairy girls, smooth girls, twinks, fat, thin, every race, every article of clothing, smoking, balloons, yachts, inter-racial sex, Interspecies sex, people dressed like cartoon characters, cartoon characters, women in uniforms, women in wedding clothes, men in uniforms, gay, straight, bi, orgy, pain, bondage, body functions, family members, MtF, FtM, crossdressers, smoking, teacher/student, and on and on.

Yet.  Somehow.  You feel you're being picked on.  Wow.

No, I don't think so.  I think human sexuality comes in a lot of themes and variations.

I altered this post because I was clearly mixed up about which comic was the original and which was the satire. I liked the ->-bleeped-<- revision but was confused about what point the original comic was making.

Duh. That's what comes of grading papers all day and letting my mind go soft. It's my students' fault! Really!!!
