I think this mainstream novel about a transwoman, would make for an interesting discussion, if others have read it.  You should be able to get it through your public library, as most libraries now do interlibrary loan.
It's easier to change your sex and gender in Iran, than it is in the United States.  Way easier.

Kindle version is about 10 bucks, used copies start at .01 cents on Amazon.
