I wanna buy some bras, but I'm not sure about sizing.  I know it's the circumference of my chest that I need to measure, but what I don't know is that I'm technically male and have never taken any hormone replacement.  So, what I'm wondering is should I buy my bras in a particular imagined breast size, or if I should go small and realistic?

I think you should go with realistic.  I started with a D, but settled for a C.  Now after a year on HRT, I am a large B.  So may be I will be a C in another year.  I just wish they were closer, cheast is bigger than the average Bio.  I so want cleavage.

If you're not going to appear ridiculous and be rather uncomfortable with the "fit" then get a catalog and go to the center pages and check the sizing instructions. No, it doesn't have to be a catalog especially for bras, just one that flogs bras within its pages.

Follow the instructions for measuring yourself properly and get something that fits. Best would be to go to a Hanes, Bali or some other bra specialty store or a place like Macy's or Victoria's Secret and be measured by a clerk there. Of course given the rest of what you wrote perhaps that last bit wouldn't be as comfy for you as just doing it yourself in the privacy of your home.

The beauty of a bra is that you needn't buy just one that will last forever. You can buy others that fit as you grow. :)

Well, there's no law against owning bras in different cup sizes. You might try a larger one, fill it with something and see how the look works. I'm not on hormones, but I fill a AA well enough and normally wear that because frequent wearing seems to add a certain degree of body sculpting. I do have a pair of "cutlets" I sometimes wear in my A cuppers, though. With my size and figure, I'd probably look the most balanced with a C or even D cup, but I don't want to overdo.

I've never found catalog bra size specs at all reliable. By trial and error, I finally realized I was a 36 and that usually works. A personal fitting sounds like a good idea.

Personal fittings are VERY good ideas. But you gotta gauge your response to what the person asking appears able to do. She didn't sound all that prepared at this point to go for a personal fitting. Thus, she needs to do the best she can in the meantime.

Otherwise, I find you spot-on.

if she calls ahead of time to a local women's store, some of them are willing to make appointments for clients during downtime for privacy, some will even close the entire store for people's privacy. Victoria's Secret is a good place to get fitted for bras and panties, you'll want to ask one of the younger girls for help. the older ones usually are weirded by anything abnormal. i hope i helped.

Thanks.  I think I'm gonna experiment with different cup sizes, and I'll try and get a hold of a catalogue somehow.  I'm deeply closeted at this point, so I don't think I'll be doing any fittings around clerks and stuff.  Though I've got a bunch of friends who are girls that would be all about this stuff.

You can go online with different companies like.... Victoria's Secret and/or several others and use their sizing charts. All you need is a cloth measuring tape and a little sense  >:-) It took awhile for me to learn. I was just about flat as a board, but now wear a 36-B

I remember my early decisions...I think I went a little bigger than normal, but then I realized I was a 'big' girl...over 6' tall and over 200 lbs...the best decision was to go to a t-friendly shop (jewl's in Houston, but now closed) and actually tried different forms and bras until I found what felt like ME.

You'll know it when you find it...Always...Teree

I find the size charts on every web sight that sells bras very useful, then what I do is use the cup size that I find most attractive on women, a "B-cup" (I kind of like smaller hand sized brests :)).  Unfrotunately, with my band size the selection of B-cup bras is somewhat limited, so I often times go with a C-cup.

Or go on the internet and find a TG friendly store. I did in Adealide, Australia. It's even a discount store and prides itself on having fitting consultants. I went in boy mode but girlie (I cannot help the way I look). Told the clerk that I wanted a bra fitting. No problems. A private stall, I had silicone breasts I had bought on line. She measured me then brought a plain bra to try. After that she walked around the shop with me and showed me more fashionable lingere. I got some looks from other women but the staff were fine. Told me they appreciated my custom and to tell my friends that they always happy to help.

I think you tend to find this is the same story everywhere.
