Bay Area PJA Transgender Report

Transgender Inclusion:
The Next Frontier in the Struggle for Equal Rights

http://pjalliance.org/article.aspx?ID=512&CID=15

Bay Area PJA in partnership with Kol Tzedek* and several transgender Jews in the community recently released our Transgender Inclusion Report.  This report addresses the myriad ways that the Jewish community, in the Bay Area and throughout the country, needs to welcome, embrace, and integrate transgender Jews.  It covers inclusion in Jewish communal programs and institutions and professional and lay leadership. Over a year in the making, the report is based on many discussions with transgender Jews and transgender Jewish activists, community lay leaders, rabbis, and agency professionals. It was submitted to the Jewish Community Federation in a meeting with CEO, Daniel Sokatch (whom we still claim as our own at PJA!).  It is now in the hands of the LGBT Alliance Planning and Advisory Group for consideration of steps towards dissemination and implementation.
