I get spammed a lot, despite taking sensible precautions etc - I received 38 spams today!
.......so why do I never get any spam that says
"SHRINK YOUR PENIS......."  ? ? ?     ;D
To those who understand, I extend my hand
To the doubtful I demand, take me as I am
Not under your command, I know where I stand
I won't change to fix your plan, Take me as I am (Dreamtheatre - As I Am)
I started out with nothing..... and I still have most of it left.

I might have to sign up for that...
If you do not agree to my demands... TOO LATE

This raises a question I have wanted answered for years.

SPAM (the meat?? ;D) is (or was) incredibly popular in Hawaii. Why?

Hi CJ

from google/wikipedia,,

"Spam was introduced into the aforementioned areas (inc. Hawaii), in addition to other islands in the Pacific such as Okinawa and the Philippine Islands, during the U.S. military occupation in World War II. Since fresh meat was difficult to get to the soldiers on the front, World War II saw the largest use of Spam. GIs started eating Spam for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. (Some soldiers referred to Spam as "ham that didn't pass its physical" and "meatloaf without basic training".)[17] Surpluses of Spam from the soldiers' supplies made their way into native diets. Consequently, Spam is a unique part of the history and effects of U.S. influence in the Pacific."

In the old days we called stuff like Spam, Fun Meat. As in you have fun trying to figure out what is really in it.  :icon_yikes:

Fantastic!
Thank you.

One time wehen we were in Hawaii there was a cook off between major Hotels and resturants. We found it totally weird. I hate the stuff. When Rebecca and I travelled bush for a year we took some Spam as an emergecy. The only time I ate it I puked (sorry)

Amazing.

The stuff I've learned at Susan's is awesome.

Nifty Spam Trivia!
By World War II, Hormel had sold twenty thousand tons of Spam. Then, during the wartime meat rationing, Spam got popular...
If all the cans of Spam ever eaten were put end-to-end, they would circle the globe at least ten times.
In the U.S. alone, 3.8 cans of Spam "are consumed every second"(assuming SPAM is eaten 24 hours a day, 365.25 days a year).
Senator Robert Byrd of West Viginia eats a sandwich of SPAM and mayonnaise on white bread three times a week.
Residents of Hawai'i eat an average of four cans of SPAM per person per year, more than in any other place on Earth (Elsewhere in the Universe, who knows?).
By 1959, a billion cans of SPAM had been sold. The two billion mark was hit in 1970, followed by three billion in 1980, four billion in 1986, and five billion in 1993. That's a lot of SPAM!
In Korea, SPAM is sold in stylish presentation gift boxes of nine cans each. SPAM stolen from army PXs can be found on the Korean black market. And there are Korean imitations called Lo-Spam, Dak, Plumrose, and Tulip, to ensure that no one need go without.
Nikita Krushchev once credited SPAM with the survival of the WWII Russian army. ''Without SPAM, we wouldn't have been able to feed our army,'' he said.
SPAM is sold in over 99% of U.S. grocery stores.
The SPAM luncheon meat trademark is registered in 93 countries.
Over 60 million people in the U.S. eat SPAM.
SPAM is made in two U.S. locations - Austin, Minnesota, and Fremont, Nebraska - and seven other countries: England, Australia, Denmark, Phillipines, Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea.
In 1989, the U.S. armed forces bought 3.3 million pounds of SPAM.
Over 141 million cans of SPAM are sold worldwide each year.

Ingredients:
Chopped pork shoulder meat with ham meat added.
Salt (for binding, flavour, and firmness)
Water (to help in mixing)
Sugar (for flavour)
Sodium Nitrite (for colour and as a preservative)

I have 2 gmail accounts & a yahoo account.  Spam filters are set exactly the same way, but one gmail account seems to always have a disproportionate amount of crap in the spam folder.  Most of the subject lines are single words, like "new," "fun," etc.  Seems to be a recent trend, replacing the previous trend of deliberately spelling easy words incorrectly.  I have no idea what they're selling, as I just select them all & hit delete.

I say there! My spam smoothie seems to be missing the spam.

Gmail is my primary mail account, and Yahoo is my secondary. That might change. Right now, my Yahoo's spam filter is off and I rarely get any spam. But, I try to keep it that way. I use the Gmail account when I need to register an account at one site or another. I'm starting to migrate to Yahoo for my personal stuff.
