Hi all!
Got a question for all you makeup experts both guys and gals.
While getting my hair trimmed today by my hair dresser, one I have used before and have enjoyed talking to her. She was talking to me about my hair color now auburn and my now almost green eyes. Than she offered this comment, "You shouldn't be using pink (blush and stuff) because it isn't spring anymore." Than she went on to say that I should be using more tan colors.
So my question is there certain season or seasons for some colors?
Thanks for any help.
:)

One of these days I'll take a new picture so you can see the change. ;D

Hi Jilleanne,

When I first transitioned at work, my company (paid!) for me to see a beauty consultant. Two days was great and one of the things I had done, was colour matching (excuse the English spelling), which used a computer programme to analyse skin tone, eyes, hair etc.

The next step was to drape certain colurs across my shoulders and to look at the effect and to see how I felt about them. We also did this with glasses (frames) and make up.

To cut a very long story short.... yes there are seasons (Spring, Autumn, Summer and Winter) and also various sub-categories (I am soft Autumn for instance).

But I know what colour and tone of make up suits my skin, hair tone and I have a colour swatch, that I use to select some of the clothes I wear.

I never liked browns or greens, but they actually look very good on me and I can actually wear pink!... errr something I never wore as a guy!

The two days cost about $200 US and really gave me an insight into colours and their effect.

PS... Changed my nail polish on my toes yesterday to an orange colour because its Summer!

I think there's some confusion.  As Buffy was saying the coloring that looks best on a person is referred to as their season.  It is not the season of the year, but colors typically found in that season of the year.  For instance, Autumns have a lot of reds and browns, which is like the leaves.  To answer your question, the coloring of a person does not typically change throughout the year; only when they get a new look.  What she probably said is that your coloring is not that of a spring anymore.
