Arch

Well, I passed my pre-op physical and only have to get some blood drawn tomorrow morning. My last blood tests came out fine, so I don't anticipate any problems. Then on Monday I go back to the surgeon's to fill out forms, have "before" pictures taken (ick), and pay the balance of what I owe.

My surgery date is in less than two weeks. I'm very stoked, only a little apprehensive, and not really scared at all. I am a notorious chicken, so I'm expecting the butterflies and anxiety to start any minute now. I only finalized the date about ten days ago, and I've been terribly busy with other things until today. So I haven't had much time to fret.

I'm curious: when did you guys start getting nervous--if you did at all--about your surgery/surgeries?

I didn't get too nervous until the night before surgery (surgery was scheduled at 7:30 am.) I couldn't sleep at all.

Congratulations Arch! :D I'm glad you didn't have too long of a wait for the surgery date.

If I may ask, are you getting it done sort of close to home or will you have to travel?

I had a few seconds of doubt after the IV line was dripping at the surgery center.  After my hysto, top surgery was the best thing I've done.  T is third!

Congrats Arch. I don't remember feeling nervous about it all. I got a little nervous when I got to the surgical centre and they said I hadn't paid yet though! (Turned out Brownstein was bringing in a cheque because I'd paid in Cdn $).

This surgeon is about an hour away from where I live. My ex is kind enough to drive me. Considering that he's not very pleased with my transition (hence his only recent status as my "ex") and considering that he was planning to take vacation that week (but not go anywhere in particular), I think it's awfully decent of him.

Thanks for the support, guys.

Argh. Well, I called my credit card company yesterday to tell them that I would be making a rather large charge next week and not to refuse it or treat it as suspicious or, heaven forbid, cancel my card and issue a new one, like they did the last time they saw "suspicious" activity on my card. (It was purely innocent, if they had bothered to ask; when dealing with an online vendor overseas, I refused to sign up for a supposedly voluntary credit-card protection scheme that I had never heard of before. Apparently, that's TERRIBLY suspicious...to not apply for a suspicious-looking program that was ostensibly an ironclad condition of my doing business with that company. Sheesh.)

The second I booked it.

I'm a bit of a control freak who cannot stand getting put under for surgeries.  I begged for conscious sedation, but Brownstein wouldn't do it.

Congrats!

I booked mine a few months in advance, so i had time to process.  I think the most nervous i was was the day before, when i had to show my chest to Brownstein.  Oh i also couldn't sleep that night 'cause i was afraid i wouldn't wake up in time.

Awesome! Awesome to the max!

I hope it all goes off without a hitch (in more ways than one!)  :)

I'm a bit jealous now

That's good for him to take you there, Arch, considering the circumstances. It's good your surgery isn't too far away, too.
