Ok uh...Why am I feeling so awkward about posting this? Oh well. I'll try and continue to write it out. I'm sure there's been a few dozen topics discussing names but I thought I'd throw mine out there

I've been looking for a new name for a very long time. I still haven't found one that really suits me. Lately I've been interested in Spanish names. I've looked on Google for Spanish names but the list is so long and some of the names are so unheard of that they just don't sound right. Some of the names I've tried were Antonio, Luis, ect. Those were good names but I don't know...I might just go back and try one of them again. I feel really stupid for picking a Spanish name when I'm not even Spanish myself (at least I don't think I am. Maybe some of my ancestry is from Spain but I'm not 100% certain) so maybe I should just pick a normal American sounding name.

So uh..I guess the reason I'm posting this is because I wanna know. Does anyone know of any kind of common, not too silly sounding male Spanish names? And is it wrong to choose a foreign name when you're technically not from that country yourself?

Sure, it's okay, and there's a ton of people in the United States with a Spanish name, but usually from Spanish parents. Even if you don't look much Spanish it's okay, since  a lot of Spanish people don't look Spanish.

Juan sounds like a good name. I'm gonna keep that one in mind

How do Spanish people look? I'm going to Spain in October, never been there. Just interested. Never seen anything wrong in having an interesting name.

Most Spanish people look like a mixture of Enrique Igleasias and Penelope Cruz, but they are some fairer skin ones.

Dark hair, olive skin to creamy skin, mostly European features

And the difference from them to Mexicans usually is that the Mexicans have a whole lot hotter body like Selma Hayek, with the curves and everything. Sometimes their skin is a browner too.

When most people say "look Spanish," what they mean is "look Latin American."  Because the people in Spain are generally white. Latin Americans are generally darker because of the Andean blood.

I don't think it's overly silly to have a common foriegn name, so long as it's something you identify with. People might look at you funny, but meh - it's your name, and at the end of the day it's you that has to live with it.

One thing that is going to happen though - you're going to get people of that nationality speaking to you in their native tounge.

My birth name does not match my background, and I can tell you from experiance that this happens more often than you'd think!

Guillermo was my favorite Spanish name in high school.

That's alright. I'm on my way to learning Spanish so it won't be too bad of a problem
