Heard this topic discussed on the radio.  Mentioned that with women of Irish ancestory the second toe is shorter than the big toe, and this tends to be true of women of european descent.

I understand that the length of the second toe is controlled by a dominant gene. However I have no idea what the situation is re sex & toe length.

My second toe is longer, while my wife has her big toe longer

They're about the same length on me.  I think my mom's toes were the same way.

LOL, OMG...okay this is interesting ;D

Yeah...my second toe is a little bit shorter, not too much though...I'm Spanish so probably that has a lot to do with it  :D

Rana, actually if you think about it, can second toes be longer than the first ones?  That'd be a little bit odd, I would think.......

For me both toes are the same length on both feet.  I was born in England...  European?  yes but don't tell the English :)

My second toe is just slightly longer than my big toe on both feet, but to a larger degree on my right.  I am, as far as I know, 100% German descent.

My ex sister-in -law had much larger second toes than her big toes.  Tink, you're right, it IS very strange looking.  Bleh!

I'm just glad I have 10 so I can count higher than ..  ..  ..  ..  ..  .

My second toes are the same length as my big toes.  I am part Irish, Scottish, British, German and Dutch.  Definitely one or two of these if not all of them falls into the European category.   :)

Tinkerbell, I have to admit studying my feet, it is a bit odd looking - my big & second toes very similar in size, second toe just that little bit longer, both  a joint length longer than the rest.

I had never really noticed before.  My feet suddenly look a bit strange to me OMG freaky even  :o  However in that radio conversation I mentioned - was stated that longer second toe signifies royal blood - but from what bloodline I have no idea  ???

I can remember a thread many months back about the length the ring finger & index finger mine are the same size but it depends on how you hold your hands.  Cannot remember what same or diff lengths signify now

Hi Rana,

This study on the radio you speak of sounds very interesting.  My grandfather on my mother's side was born in Scotland in the late 1800's before he came to the USA and he was a MacMillan of the Clan MacMillan.  The MacMillan's are related to the Stuarts I think by marriage.  Queen Mary of Scot was a Stuart and she is one of my ancesters.  There is obviously royal blood in my family.  After re-examining my toes today I discovered my second toe is actually slightly longer than my big toe, but not by much so there may be some truth that a longer second toe signifies royal blood afterall.

I started looking closer at my toes, I must be wierd. My left foot, second toe is the same length, but my right foot the second toe is just a little bit longer, not much. I did get my right big toe broken when my horse stomped his foot down. I did hit my second toe but it broke my big toe.
I am from Scottish decent with a little Irish and English in me. My GG grandmother was a Scot, name. They came over on the Mayflower. Robert Morris is some sort of uncle of mine. His name is on the Constitution.

OK, I'll bite.

My second toes are shorter.  I am about half Irish.

Ok, I'm in too. My second toe is about 1/2 inch shorter on my right foot, but it's the same size as my big toe on my dominant left foot. I'm a BIA registered class A Native American (class A means full blood).
