I realised on the weekend that's it's been longer than I can remember since I haven't had alcohol at night. I don't always get drunk. But.
I stopped on 20th June, OK it's only 4 days. I'm craving a drink. I'm fighting. I'm determined.
Anyone else want to join me? I know many of you have fought this demon, and I'll love your support. But if there is anyone out there that wants to stop drinking now, I'm more than happy to have pm in mutual support, or on the thread for group support.

I want to applaud your efforts.  I really really really hope you are able to succeed.  It is a great relief being free from the bonds of addiction - whatever that addiction may be.

(I have personal beef with alcohol in particular for personal reasons, so I'm doubly excited and hoping for you.)
Ill no longer be defined by my condition. From now on, I'm just, Kate.

My last drink was saturday, june 20th, same as you. I had a low point (that I will not get into here) where I realized that it was just stupid to mindlessly pick up a drink every night, and it was affecting my health and my waistline, not to mention the money down the drain.

Now my challenge is to find something else to do with that time at night.

Great going, you two!

Diabetes and meds ended my abilities to consume much.  I like your way better.  Keep it up!

Thanks Friends,

I have the same problem Riven, time seems to be on my hands. Just how much time have I wasted drinking?
I'm reading and doing puzzles.

Getting back to some cooking, but I am rattling around the house a bit. I have to admit I'm sleeping better already. Even dream

Hang in there, sister. I think it gets easier after the first week.

I travel for work and sit around a hotel room after work with nothing but time on my hands. It is really hard to fill that time.

And you are right, sleep is definitely better.

Hi CJ, I know what you are saying. With me and about 40 years of hell I and many others can be classified as professionals(at least we are pros at something!)  I,ve been sober since 12-07-08, except for some relapses. And you will have them.  The thing with me now is all the other ailments that the booze hid!
You 're going thru a rough time and you may think you have it licked;  but there is something hiding deep inside you.  It's anger, frustration, elation. There's always a reason to drink,  remember that and be ware of how cunning and sly IT can creep up on you.  If you want to email me and we can talk. We all need some help at times, it can be frustrating and lonely.  Oh and something else, be selfish.  Do this only for yourself, the other things will fall in place given time.  Love Jolene.

Hi Joelene
and thanks. I gave up for two years a while back and then slipped. But Try try again. Several girls have contacted me pm and there are quite a few with the same demon. Why do the demons prey on us. Haven't we enought to cope with >:(

Thanks for the good wishes. Watch this space 'cos I'll be reporting and cracking the whip, or letting the whip be cracked if need be.

Love and Thanks

I'll be on your side. It is not a problem with me any longer. Used to be drunk daily. I was once diagnosed as ethyl alcohol dependent. Whcih means I may die without a drink. They prescribe librium. I stopped drinking and didn't take the librium. No problems. I can drink or not drink and life is about the same. Drinking is a waste of money and time if I go on a three dayer. Also I have experienced blackouts and that is NOT good. Swearing off forever will not happen. Don't need the guilt if I fall off the wagon again. Drinking can be be enjoyable in a social atmosphere but not neccessary.
