I think maybe the best possible outcome for me would be to have the opportunity to use my experience to communicate and promote understanding about this - especially with the mingled background I have (Conservative Christian/Transsexual)
I have no idea how to get there, or whether it's computable with actually keeping the lights turned on...but one thing I have picked up on already is that it's a lot different for a person to say, in the abstract, "I don't believe in X" than it is to meet X and see her face and consider the real person behind the abstract concept.
I agree with you that getting a chance to stand up and let your voice be heard and make a difference in people's worldview in Olean is of inestimable value and I'm so happy for you.
I'd love to be similarly blessed some day.
