I've seen the infomercials for these:

http://www.ubuyez.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=31

And, like all infomercials, I assume that they are full of crap in what they show.

Still, they are impressive and I DO have a rather obvious guy that kills what little presentation I have.

(I could show you a pic from that newest set that illustrates but you won't enjoy)

So I was wondering if any of you have any experience with these things and do they live up remotely to the claims?

I am 6" bigger around the biggest part of my belly than I am around my rib cage and 8 or 9" bigger than around what passes for my waist (under the belly). On TV they show that thing cutting that belly measurement by 3-5" on most every girl.

Should I believe that?

In the film clip, the model pulls the garment on - it slides up remrakably easily over her hips and ass so how is it going to possibly be applying any significant pressure round her (presumably) smaller waist?

I have a boned waist-cincher which is at least one size-step too small for me and a real struggle to get on ...... it DOES have a small slimming and shaping effect but it doesn't do much really for my male-pattern pot-belly - so little gain and mildly uncomfortable so actually I never use it.

...... given the above two points, I'd be surprised if the thing was any good.
( .... sorry.... not what you wanted to hear  :-\  )
To those who understand, I extend my hand
To the doubtful I demand, take me as I am
Not under your command, I know where I stand
I won't change to fix your plan, Take me as I am (Dreamtheatre - As I Am)
I started out with nothing..... and I still have most of it left.

nono, actually that's exactly what I expected.

I take it as a given they are lying to me, lol.

Hi Laura,

Microfibre shapers can work well if correctly sized and you have a body shape that accepts the cut chosen. Clearly the model putting the top on in the ad, needs no control whatsoever, but then thats not unusual for advertising. :-\

The mistake a lot of us make is to buy a size smaller, thinking that we will miraculously shrink, only to find that the garment rolls up or down, forcing those extra pounds to pop out somewhere else. If we have a fair amount of body fat in the wrong places, then boned waist cinchers that look great on a slim body give us a "dumbell" shape, ephasising the width of the shoulders where excess fat pops out round the back under the shoulder blades. ::)

One of the things to realise, is that a hint of shape and a clean line to clothing without bulges can be just as slimming as actually lossing weight. What I like about the garment shown, is that it appears to deal with the upper back area, which could well help give a slimmer appearance to the upper body/shoulders and better posture. So using it whith a pair of appropriately sized control panties with a nice wide waist band stopping the lower part of the top from riding up, could work well (not necessarily the ones sold there which seem over priced). ;)

Sizing for mail order could be an issue, and with your tummy size, I would work off a compromise between size guide for both the pantie the top and not just the top. ;)

So its a cautious thumbs up from me for use on special occasions, and not so much for every day. :)
