I listened to Randi Rhodes's riffs on the Mark Sanford scandal on the radio Wednesday after the press conference. There is plenty of material there for her to work with. The disappearance, the bizzare explanations, the even more  dramatic truth--so far as we know it--the wife's response, the Lt. Governor's response, the local politicians responses, the Republican leadership's responses.  Such a bounty of material! Why Randi thought it appropriate or amusing to question whether Sanford's correspondent is a "trannny" is beyond me. She kept coming back to her idea that Sanford might not be involved with a woman, "it might be a ->-bleeped-<-, who knows?" And then she went on and on about it.

What, you can't make funny with the facts of the story, bizarre as they are? You have to imply even odder issues? You have to venture into the land of calumny and innuendo? That's pretty low.
