I read Dan Walters' column today.  It was about the attack on various legislation that would mandate favorable treatment towards the GLBT community.  What chilled me to the bone was this quote (emphasis mine):

Quote
That doesn't satisfy the Campaign for Children and Families and other groups on the other side of the gay rights battle. The bill "still requires all teachers, all textbooks and all instructional materials to positively portray cross-dressing, sex-change operations, bisexuality and homosexuality, including homosexual marriages," said CCF's president, Randy Thomasson.

The TG community is lumped in with the homosexual community in their minds.

Senate Bill 1437, Senate Bill 1441, Assembly Bill 606 and Assembly Bill 1207 were mentioned in the article.  Specifically, SB 1437 was changed from requiring the positive portrayal of GLBT persons in textbooks to merely prohibiting the negative portrayal of same.  This was done in an attempt to prevent a veto of the bill by Governor Schwarzenegger.

California Proposition 22, the measure ratified by California voters declaring only marriages between men and woman would be officially recognized was also mentioned.

<sigh> ...and still it continues--
