For ye amusement...

Ye olde URL: http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes1.htm

This is another one of those personality test thingie-ma-bobs that a dear friend showed me some time ago.

What their blurb has to say about it:
QuoteThis test is based on the Jung - Myers-Briggs typological approach to personality.
...
According to Jung's typology all people can be classified using three criteria. These criteria are:

- Extraversion - Introversion
- Sensing - Intuition
- Thinking - Feeling

Isabel Briggs-Myers added fourth criterion:

- Judging - Perceiving

The first criterion defines the source and direction of energy expression for a person. The extrovert has a source and direction of energy expression mainly in the external world while the introvert has a source of energy mainly in the internal world.

The second criterion defines the method of information perception by a person. Sensing means that a person believes mainly information he receives directly from the external world. Intuition means that a person believes mainly information he receives from the internal or imaginative world.

The third criterion defines how the person processes information. Thinking means that a person makes a decision mainly through logic. Feeling means that, as a rule, he makes a decision based on emotion.

The fourth criterion defines how a person implements the information he has processed. Judging means that a person organizes all his life events and acts strictly according to his plans. Perceiving means that he is inclined to improvise and seek alternatives.

All in all I thought it was kind of neat,

Just as a side note, I find it interesting in that looking at it that "50% Intuitive" part might have something to do with why I was able to accept myself as TS so easily.
Certainly not proof or anything of the like but ... interesting (=

Feeling - 12
Judging - 44

The Counselor Idealists are abstract in thought and speech, cooperative in reaching their goals, and directive and introverted in their interpersonal roles. Counselors focus on human potentials, think in terms of ethical values, and come easily to decisions. The small number of this type (little more than 2 percent) is regrettable, since Counselors have an unusually strong desire to contribute to the welfare of others and genuinely enjoy helping their companions. Although Counsleors tend to be private, sensitive people, and are not generally visible leaders, they nevertheless work quite intensely with those close to them, quietly exerting their influence behind the scenes with their families, friends, and colleagues. This type has great depth of personality; they are themselves complicated, and can understand and deal with complex issues and people.

Counselors can be hard to get to know. They have an unusually rich inner life, but they are reserved and tend not to share their reactions except with those they trust. With their loved ones, certainly, Counselors are not reluctant to express their feelings, their face lighting up with the positive emotions, but darkening like a thunderhead with the negative. Indeed, because of their strong ability to take into themselves the feelings of others, Counselors can be hurt rather easily by those around them, which, perhaps, is one reason why they tend to be private people, mutely withdrawing from human contact. At the same time, friends who have known a Counselor for years may find sides emerging which come as a surprise. Not that they are inconsistent; Counselors value their integrity a great deal, but they have intricately woven, mysterious personalities which sometimes puzzle even them.

Counselors have strong empathic abilities and can become aware of another's emotions or intentions -- good or evil -- even before that person is conscious of them. This "mind-reading" can take the form of feeling the hidden distress or illnesses of others to an extent which is difficult for other types to comprehend. Even Counselors can seldom tell how they came to penetrate others' feelings so keenly. Furthermore, the Counselor is most likely of all the types to demonstrate an ability to understand psychic phenomena and to have visions of human events, past, present, or future. What is known as ESP may well be exceptional intuitive ability-in both its forms, projection and introjection. Such supernormal intuition is found frequently in the Counselor, and can extend to people, things, and often events, taking the form of visions, episodes of foreknowledge, premonitions, auditory and visual images of things to come, as well as uncanny communications with certain individuals at a distance.

Mohandas Gandhi  and Eleanor Roosevelt are examples of the Counselor Idealist (INFJ).

As long as I can look like Counselor Troi, I would be a happy girl!  :D

Oh well.... Not only do I have funny toes (see Rana's poll), I am also the only extrovert on this forum.

What have I got to do to be normal...... :icon_help:

Come on girls... what do I need to be intoverted like the rest of you lovely ladies... :icon_userfriendly:

Just as a quick note, "Judging" should probably be named something else; Judging is planning and sticking to the plan, vs improvising a lot/freely. As I understand it anyway.
QuoteThe fourth criterion defines how a person implements the information he has processed. Judging means that a person organizes all his life events and acts strictly according to his plans. Perceiving means that he is inclined to improvise and seek alternatives.

I used to consider myself an introvert, but now I'm an inverted introvert making me an extrovert.  :P
I think after reading the descriptions they are fairly accurate.  It also says that this is a rare type being found in only about 3% of people.

Nothing wrong with being an extrovert.  It just means we're people persons and get our energy through interacting with other people.

Here are my results. By the way, there are several questions that are biased against us as TS people.  So the results are bent generally for everyone here.  :)

So, I'm an intuitive extrovert that doesn't think a whole lot!  I don't believe it.  I do a lot of thinking!

No, because the Thinking showed up in your results, it means you think more than feel.

Being "normal"  ::) is highly over rated!  Life is MUCH more enjoyable being at least 6 Sigma away from normal!  :icon_google:

Chaunte, I hate those poisson distibrutions!  Man I hated that subject when I went for my Masters.  Every class I took in my major for my bachelors was calculus for electrical engineering.  I didn't catch the advanced statistics until my masters.  I hate it!  It wasn't the math, it was the hopless uselessness of it all .... yuch!  I never used it... okay I actually did ;)

well , thats my results...what ever that means ! heheheheh

Introverted... I expected that because I hide in the hills and seek No company ! what else would you call it ? heheheh
....
again as with all these tests, it realy depends on your emotional state at the time of the test... you could take the test tomarrow and come up with a diferent result.

Plus some of the questions are ambigious  and you can take their question more than one way ... giveing a yes answer to one way of thinking about it or a No answer to the other way of thinking about it .... in a test like this it is imperitive that there be No 2 ways to think about the question... its accuarcy depends upon it !  I must have counted at least 5 ambigious questions... and also there were Many questions only on one subject
and few questions if not just one on other subjects, this is a poor example of a good test.... in my view.
but it is amuseing !  Thanks Kim !
Bob.........

...According to the test I am a well rounded person !
HAHAHHAHHA ! so we know its messed up ! <GRIN>

This is pretty scary when you read the description it's pretty accurate for me

QuoteThe Idealists called Teachers are abstract in their thought and speech, cooperative in their style of achieving goals, and directive and extraverted in their interpersonal relations. Learning in the young has to be beckoned forth, teased out from its hiding place, or, as suggested by the word "education," it has to be "educed." by an individual with educative capabilities. Such a one is the eNFj, thus rightly called the educative mentor or Teacher for short. The Teacher is especially capable of educing or calling forth those inner potentials each learner possesses. Even as children the Teachers may attract a gathering of other children ready to follow their lead in play or work. And they lead without seeming to do so.

Teachers expect the very best of those around them, and this expectation, usually expressed as enthusiastic encouragement, motivates action in others and the desire to live up to their expectations. Teachers have the charming characteristic of taking for granted that their expectations will be met, their implicit commands obeyed, never doubting that people will want to do what they suggest. And, more often than not, people do, because this type has extraordinary charisma.

The Teachers are found in no more than 2 or 3 percent of the population. They like to have things settled and arranged. They prefer to plan both work and social engagements ahead of time and tend to be absolutely reliable in honoring these commitments. At the same time, Teachers are very much at home in complex situations which require the juggling of much data with little pre-planning. An experienced Teacher group leader can dream up, effortlessly, and almost endlessly, activities for groups to engage in, and stimulating roles for members of the group to play. In some Teachers, inspired by the responsiveness of their students or followers, this can amount to genius which other types find hard to emulate. Such ability to preside without planning reminds us somewhat of an Provider, but the latter acts more as a master of ceremonies than as a leader of groups. Providers are natural hosts and hostesses, making sure that each guest is well looked after at social gatherings, or that the right things are expressed on traditional occasions, such as weddings, funerals, graduations, and the like. In much the same way, Teachers value harmonious human relations about all else, can handle people with charm and concern, and are usually popular wherever they are. But Teachers are not so much social as educational leaders, interested primarily in the personal growth and development of others, and less in attending to their social needs.

Mikhail Gorbachev is an example of a Teacher Idealist.

and

QuoteENFJs are the benevolent 'pedagogues' of humanity. They have tremendous charisma by which many are drawn into their nurturant tutelage and/or grand schemes. Many ENFJs have tremendous power to manipulate others with their phenomenal interpersonal skills and unique salesmanship. But it's usually not meant as manipulation -- ENFJs generally believe in their dreams, and see themselves as helpers and enablers, which they usually are.

ENFJs are global learners. They see the big picture. The ENFJs focus is expansive. Some can juggle an amazing number of responsibilities or projects simultaneously. Many ENFJs have tremendous entrepreneurial ability.

ENFJs are, by definition, Js, with whom we associate organization and decisiveness. But they don't resemble the SJs or even the NTJs in organization of the environment nor occasional recalcitrance. ENFJs are organized in the arena of interpersonal affairs. Their offices may or may not be cluttered, but their conclusions (reached through feelings) about people and motives are drawn much more quickly and are more resilient than those of their NFP counterparts.

ENFJs know and appreciate people. Like most NFs, (and Feelers in general), they are apt to neglect themselves and their own needs for the needs of others. They have thinner psychological boundaries than most, and are at risk for being hurt or even abused by less sensitive people. ENFJs often take on more of the burdens of others than they can bear.

So all in all, just about perfect for me :)

Wow, that's quite a shift from the last time I took the MBTI about 5 years ago, which yielded a result of ESTJ. I remember practically maxing out all four categories back then. The two descriptions of INTJ were pretty much spot on too, almost unnervingly so.

I am dumbfounded ! ... it couldn't be more correct even if I wrote it myself !
that is quite amazeing...  I take back what i said about it being a poor example!
evidently everything is taken into account even the ambigious questions !
.... guess I better not be too hard on these type tests anymore... because it just proved to me that it was very accurate indeed !...guess i gott'a find another soap box ! HAHAHA
thanks Kim ! that was very educational !

Buffy !
Being an INtrovert is easy ! just stay at home never go out... don't talk to people and hide away from the rest of humanity ! ....
see.... its easy ! but Why would you want to do that ?
For years I have chided myself for these reasons... I know i limit my life so very much by not getting involved with others... but its what I LIKE... I enjoy being by myself, I'm good company( most of the time anyway!<grin>) i realy don't care to get involved with others, i have enough things going on in my life to keep me quite ocupied.
the only socilizeing i do is here on the computer.... thats it... and frankly sometimes that gets to be a bit much ( not on this forem though thank you!).
However it is within your power to change into any personality you chose its Up to you how you realy want to be ! reconizeing that you want to be diferent than you are is the first step...stopping yourself from doing the things you don't like that you do is the next step.... and by that time you are already half way there !
So Smile and enjoy life ! being normal is way over raited !  it takes all kinds of people to make the world go round ! .... if everyone were normal it would be boreing as all get out !!!!!
HEHEHHEHHE
