Unless I missed it ...  Hey Kayden!  How'd  the surgery go, dude?  Inquiring minds want to know.  :)

LOL.  It's kind of complicated.  I was supposed to have peri, but apparently my boobs grew on T. (whaat?)  So I had DI with Medalie.  So far so good.  Lots of drainage the first day, but it's slowed down to reasonable levels.

I can move my arms pretty well, though I'm trying to remember to take it easier than I feel like I should.  I'm a little scared of the results because I picked Medalie specifically for peri because I knew the kind of results he gave for that, but then I got bumped to DI and I didn't know much about his results on that.  So I guess I'm hoping my results are as good as Nero's.

I have videos on youtube if you want to see the groggy aftermath.  www . youtube . com / user / transposeme  I'll put up videos on there too, once I can take my binder off.

I have to say, even though you have to pay for the Mederma binder ahead of time instead of the surgeon wrapping you up, I really like the binder Medalie made me buy. It's very breathable and comfortable and it means I've just got foam on my front.

Also, I think I have sensation in my chest already, so that's good.  I've been staying away from junk food and haven't had caffeine since surgery.

I'll get you guys an update as soon as I know what the scars/nipples look like!

Breasts don't grow on T, they shrink.  The redistribution of fat makes your tits deflate.  Sounds to me like Medalie misjudged the size of your breasts (seems MUCH more likely if you sent him photos rather than if he saw you in the flesh.) and realized you were not a peri candidate.  Really, that makes him sound rather shady.

If your breasts DID grow on testosterone, this will be the first time I've heard of it in nearly 7 years of reading accounts of transition and meeting many, many FTMs IRL.

They did grow.  As freaky as this sounds, I tried a *gasp* bra on just to see what the hell was going on.  (all my old clothes haven't been sold yet and are still sitting around my parents' house)  I went from an A to a B.  It wasn't Medalie being incompetent.

I did not gain that much weight and I've been on T for 3 months.

I had the photo consultation at less than a month on T.  Then I had the IRL one at 3 months and 1 week on T.  He thought he could MAYBE pull peri off at the IRL conversation on Wednesday, but I had recently taken my binder off (with which I mash my boobs flat).  At this point, he was already rather on the fence about the issue.  I was given the chance to decide and I chose peri because I like the results better and was willing to risk a bit.  However, the next day once I hadn't been in my binder for 20 hours or so, he took another look since he had been conflicted the day before.  He wanted to make sure he was comfortable with the decision to do Peri... and told me he really didn't feel comfortable doing Peri on the left side and asked me if I'd be okay doing DI (both sides, obviously).  I told him I'd rather have a good result and do a surgery he felt he could perform with reasonable results, so that's what we did.

Thanks for deleting your post, but that's not the same as apologizing.

done.

down boys.

FWIW, a buddy of mine was borderline peri with brownstein.  two days before his surg, brownstein was still conflicted.  my buddy posed the question of "If this was your chest, what would you do?"  His answer? "Probably smack myself in the face until I woke up from that nightmare.  Let's go with DI."

Truly, if you were borderline, it's probably best to go DI.  Sure you have scars, but some of the bad peri's are.. well..    really freaking bad.

It's possible that they were due for some growth anyway, and the T just wasn't strong enough to counteract it.  Or maybe you grew before getting on T and didn't notice because of the binder.  Or, it's also possible that you're getting too much T and it's estrifying.  (sp?)  In any case, they're gone now, so congrats.  ;D  I wish you the best in your recovery.

Yeah, that's why when it was the morning of surgery and he said he was having second thoughts I told him to do what he was more comfortable with.  No mangled mess for me, please.

I get my levels checked soon and have an appt with my T-prescribing doctor, so if that's the case, I'll be finding out shortly.

Thanks for the good spirits guys.  Sorry the thread turned ugly briefly.  That's been resolved outside of susan's.

I'll let you know what I get to see what the bandages are hiding.

In case you guys hadn't been notified, I actually had peri after all.  It's confusing.  I'm not going to repost it here unless you need more details, but for my take on what happened, read Eryk's post on deciding for top surgery between Fischer and Medalie.

Also, I got a post op infection.  That's complicated too.  I was on a different antibiotic for a upper respiratory tract infection prior to surgery and Dr. Medalie didn't want to take me off that and risk that coming back so he left me on those antibiotics for surgery.  However, I have a ->-bleeped-<-ty immune system so I got a post op infection ANYWAY.  It really doesn't surprise me.  But he was awesome about it.  We were able to determine via e-mail consultation Friday night/Saturday morning that it wasn't a seroma, but that it was swelling from an infection.  Instead of sending me to the ER or urgent care to get antibiotics, he called them in for me while he was at home.  I really appreciated not having to spend the extra money on that doctor's visit since I was already back in Missouri.

So A+ for Medalie helping me on his own time instead of telling me he wasn't in his office and that I should go somewhere else for help.  Although it hadn't occurred to me that he didn't have my file until he asked what my birth name and birth date were so he could call in the prescription.

Mister

If you had a pre-existing infection, you shouldn't have been operated on.
  •

Kayden

I checked with my medical doctor here in Missouri, Medalie, and the anesthesiologist.  I was well and just finishing my course of antibiotics so I was cleared for surgery.
