Should churches mend, commend or condemn gay relationships?

Call it the summer of love. Although The Seeker has been on hiatus for the last few weeks, there's been no shortage of news to report, especially regarding what qualifies as a loving, committed relationship by church standards.

This month,Episcopal leaders voted to lift the moratorium on gay and lesbian bishops and craft a formal rite for same-sex blessings. Meanwhile, that same week, the nation's largest ministry for Christians trying to overcome same-sex attraction announced plans to magnify their efforts by merging with two mainline Protestant ex-gay ministries. In the meantime, members of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America are gearing up to vote next month on allowing gay clergy in committed relationships to serve and crafting a rite to recognize their relationships.

The only relationship churches should be concerned with is the one with God.

So you are saying that churches should have no concern with "love your neighbor."

The only problem is that don't concern themselves with "Love Thy Neighbor".   Because their neighbor is gay or lesbian.  And Heaven forbid Transgendered.

And then what is they are Trans and a lesbian or gay?  If they did, then equal rights would be passed and we would have a health care system that really care for the patient.  But the differencing views of the different benefits hind any of them coming together.

Since your neighbor might believe in something different Church's do not need to be bothering neighbors. Besides that is not a universal religious belief and it also does not include non believers.

Not everything is black or white.

Back to the topic the article addresses, I think the "church" shouldn't concern itself with people's sexual orientation at all.
