Okay I must forewarn everyone I am huge nerd so I totally geek out over this stuff.

One of the best American written cartoon series in my opinion was Avatar: the last airbender. Most animated television series over here in the U.S. tend to be aimed at young kids or are serialized. Like most super hero shows which I like only so, so. I tend to get bored at the repetitive story lines and shallow characters. ( I like to write and analyze stories so maybe I'm a bit more picky than I should be. )
Anyways... we don't have many great saga's with a continuing solid story line. Avatar had this, with deep characters and a rich story.
Now it is being made into a film. I've known about this for some time since I go to a school full of geeks and animators. I don't know how many others know though, or have seen the teaser.
The film is being directed by M. Night. This I believe ( not entirely sure ) will be the first film he has created that wasn't his own concept.

I have my fingers crossed because I'm afraid they will slaughter this trilogy... but that doesn't stop me from hoping and being uber excited. The teaser looked promising in my opinion.

It is by my all time favorite director, M. Night Shayamalan.  And that means, for me at least, it is a must see.

For me I think he's a good director in general. Some of his stuff is hit or miss, but I did love Lady in the water. The Village and Signs were good too. I think he gets a lot of undeserved flak. But he tries different things and is daring so I commend him. I do think he misrepresents his movies in his advertising so a lot of his audiences is expecting something else when they walk into the theaters or pop in the dvd.
