The panic machine is in full swing, from far-right conservatives trying to terrorize Americans out of wanting universal health care. There are half-truths, such as the story of Ontarioan Shona Holmes who had to abandon Canada's public health system and go south for surgery because of wait times, but without mention of how the cyst was inactive, that she was born with it (which would have made it a pre-existing condition to American insurers) and how upon return she had the remainder of the issue dealt with in a timely manner at Canada's expense. And then there are outright lies, such as citing a line that is meant to help patients in end-stage situations put together an advance directive, and making it sound like the Obama administration is intending to encourage genocide of seniors.

I still think it's cosmetic surgury, just an important one.

Because many people believe that and that is why it is not covered by most insurance companies.  But wart removal is covered.  It also is "just cosmetic surgery."  Imagine that you have a wart in the middle of your pretty young face, right on the tip of your nose.  It is so horrible that you think about ending your life, because you are ugly ( in your own mind ),

If you have a wart on your face, just "learn to live with."  But ask someone who has one if they want to just" live with it.", but you might get an earful.

It is not "just cosmetic surgery", at least not to me.  You maybe and that is fine.  But for me it is like having that ugly wart removed.  And by not covering it, they are denying me a surgery that will not only save, my life, but will improve my life.

And it will never be included in any form of health insurance, because so many believe that it is just cosmetic surgery.

But I am just beating my head against a wall.  Minds will not change regardless of laws or statues.

I thought cosmetic was to improve how you look. How many are going to look at your bottom surgeries. How many jobs would even know the difference of just that one.

I know of at least three that will.  OB-Gyn, SO, and myself.  And I am pre-op, but one day I will be post-op.

Good point Janet.

I still wouldn't do it just for the look, face it, any bottom surgery for me is not likely to be based on looks but on feeling right with myself and not other as opposed to human.  Being an alien on a human world is worse than just confusing, its.....(unutterable alien word.)
