Expected Effects of HRT That Never Came

Yeah, I'm a curious bugger. What HRT effects were you expecting to happen that didn't--or that haven't happened yet even though you thought they would by now?

Practically everyone was telling me that I would turn into that much-vaunted hero, Super Acne Boy. Nope. I get a big angry zit on my chin now and then--actually had two at once last week--but nothing more.

And I expected my appetite to increase AT LEAST tenfold (okay, slight exaggeration), but it hasn't changed.

I started with a totally flat chest - no man boobs.
Now, just on 10 months into HRT I have small boobs, but still an inch below A-cup.
(....that seems slow to me - what does anyone else think?)

- the thing is, I've never had this extreme breast pain that everyone talks about. The most I ever had or have is some slight discomfort if I press my finger(s) hard vertically into the areola - and I do mean slight discomfort and I do mean press hard.

On another tack - I did read somewhere a list of expected effects of estrogen which included tilting the pelvis by (I think) shrinking the ligaments on the back.
I definitely saw it on a reputable site, but haven't been able to find it again since, so does anybody else know about this?
To those who understand, I extend my hand
To the doubtful I demand, take me as I am
Not under your command, I know where I stand

I started out with nothing..... and I still have most of it left.

Interesting thought.  I have been having back pain for a while now.  Going on two weeks now.  Nothing new there, because I have always had pain in the lower back off and on.  But now I wonder?

I thought I would be bigger on top by now, but I am barely a B.  However I am down to 137 lbs.  without dieting.

Oh, yeah, you were talking about hair a little while back. Or, more specifically, the lack of it. But I have to say that your avatar pic looks good even if you're not fuzzy.

I'm giving myself a year on T before I start to worry. I really want that facial hair.

But the hassle of shaving it...well, not so much.

I was expecting more of a voice drop by now than I've gotten.  (3.5 months, still sound completely female most of the time.)  But it's still early enough that my impatience is probably unwarranted.

More annoying than you can imagine, but of course I'm biased there :).

SINCE WHEN HORMONES CHANGE VOICE?!!!  :o I never heard of this before. I wished my voice become more feminine. Do hormones really change voice too?

Shelina,.. it does for the trans-men..
Testosterone makes your voice "drop".

Congrats on the weight loss!

A small B sounds pretty darned good to me. And I was a B (probably a medium B or something) when I was twentyish and weighed around 120...

Yeah, some guys take a LONG time. I know it must be maddening, but try to be patient.

I guess I was already sounding pretty male, but then I had a big shift between the four-month mark and the five-and-a-half-month mark. So much so that someone I hadn't seen since the four-month-mark was visibly surprised at my voice when I spoke to her.

I'm always glad when it drops, but then I start hoping for just a wee bit more...and then a bit more, and a little more...ungrateful bugger, that's me. :D

Most effects didn't happen for me. I've been on HRT for a decade yet I have very small boobs which are hardly noticable and I've seen men with bigger boobs. I don't have any shape and my legs are stick thin. I look pretty much the same physically as I did before hormones, although something must be working as I am usually if not always percieved as female in any situation. But this could be due to my own devices of the lenth and style of my hair and my inherited luck of having been born with small features.

I have tried various hormones and anti androgens and nothing seems to work effectively. I do personally find it very depressing and I really thought HRT would provide more effective effects.

I had a bit of breast tissue before starting on HRT so I had thought they would get to a decent size. First few weeks into HRT and they swelled out enough to where I had to start layering (in the summer no less!) to hide them. Got to a B cup pretty quickly and then it stopped. My docs were actually advising against any implants since they were filling out so quickly. They wanted me to wait one year and I have so I may start saving up for a bit more up top but none of my partners complain at the moment.  ;D

Most men can't really grow a full beard until closer to 30. That's probably your young age rather than not getting the most out of T. I am about your age and have never been able to grow a beard*.

*thank god.

Speaking of beards - that's another thing.  I'm getting all kinds of hair on my chin (and legs, and stomach, and arms and chest ...  ::) ) but not a single hair is showing up along the sideburns.  I want sideburns dag nabbit!  :icon_anger:

Jamie,

I have sideburns and some on cheeks but none on chin and maybe 20 hairs on upper lip. I feel for ya. My sideburns tho cover below my jaw and are slowly spreading out to my cheeks so maybe once I get on T it will get better coverage and not be baby fine even if it is kinda dark.

I noticed most if not all of the ftm guys have so many hairs on their body chest and places I never had hairs on, weird! O_o not complaining though :)
