For band at our school, we have seperate male and female uniforms for our concerts, obviously an awkward situation for your average teenage transsexual.  How would I go about remedying this situation?  Any advice?

are you out at school?  at least to staff i mean.  if not, you cant really expect them to let you wear the guys uniform just for kicks.

Josh: Yes, I am out, but I don't think he knows; obviously I'll be telling him, but it'll be awkward since I've known him for years.
Beth: It's not just us having to dress up, it is uniforms that they purchase in advance and keep at the school.  When we don't have to wear those, I already wear a dress shirt and tie; my band director isn't sexist or anything, he's fine with girls wearing pants.

i see. like marching band uniforms? with the super high trousers? if you are out to him I don't see the big deal in just asking for a male uniform, but if there is some trouble with that can't you just say that the girls uniform fits too snug around the midsection and ask to try the boys'? you don't have completely different uniforms for boys and girls, do ya?

If his school's uniforms are anything like the marching band uniforms around here, I'd say yes they are very different.  The poor girls in my town get saddled with these horrendous 1930's-style dresses, while the boys wear the traditional pants, shirt and braid-covered jacket.

If I were you, Mr. Fox, I'd just go to the teacher and tell him you'd rather wear the boy's uniform.  No explanation may even be needed.  ('Course, I'm the sort of person who would have said, "There's no way in hell you're getting me into that hideous thing.  It's the boy's uniform, or I quit the band.)

if youre out to the higher ups, just lay along like youre getting a guys uniform and he might just go along with it.  if he says something about you and a girls uniform, just look at him like hes crazy and just offended you horribly.  lol

They make girls march in dresses?  That's horrible!

The main difficulty here is that we all have uniforms already, excepting the freshmen, so I would have to get a new uniform.  Otherwise I would just slip into the men's line.  But really I just have to stop being a pussy and say something.
