Seeing as I have only recently come to the realization that I am trans, I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out the steps getting to therapy, and what I should be speaking with them on. I know I'm trans, I shouldn't have to get professional approval, but then again that's the world.
So it comes down to this. I have 3 options when it comes to therapy. The first, would be to see my christian councilor. This one however is the least favorite of my options. The second would be to see a therapist I have seen since I was in 4th grade (Note that I'm 21 now) she pretty much knows me better than I know myself in some cases (treated me for possible ADD, turrets, needle phobia, etc). The other option is to find a completely new therapist to speak to. A little input into this would be helpful, from those of you who have the experience.
The other thing is really, what should I be asking, what should the therapist be asking, what should I be looking for in this Therapy? I'm a bit confused, and I don't really know where to start.
Help would be wonderful.
