I was on my way to the grocery store and I heard this song.  It's by Sundown, "Sometimes Goodbye Is A Second Chance".

What grabbed me was when I heard these lyrics...

Tell my mother,
Tell my father
I've done the best I can
To make them realize
This is my life
I hope they understand
I'm not angry, I'm just saying...
Sometimes goodbye
Is a second chance

I think we all encounter loved ones who don't understand what we go through and that we didn't choose to be TG and we never meant to hurt anyone by the choices we had to make.

And I think that sometimes we get upset with those we love because they just won't open their minds and we want to walk away and say goodbye.  But we can't, because we love them too much.

So I wondered if saying goodbye is creating a second chance.  Maybe by saying goodbye we allow for the death of our old selves and the introduction of our new selves.  I don't know but, for me at least, it opens up possibilities as to how to mend the broken ties.

I'd like that second chance.

When you judge others, you do not define them, you define yourself.

Much as I would like to think the act of saying goodbye would help,...

....I think it is very dependant on the specific circumstances, and the individual concerned.

I don't think there is really anything to replace the healing effects of time, and leaving the door open....
I really hope a second chance has already been booked as a surprise for you sometime soon Julie  :icon_bunch:
