I prefer men/women, but in some contexts this doesn't make sense.

trans-men/woman? Men/women in transition? And what point does trans stop and gender begin?

->-bleeped-<-? No. No, no no no. What sad, in capitol hill, this is the generally accepted term, even from these women. Um, I DO NOT sleep with car parts, thank you. Only humans. Guy or girl.

I prefer TG men/women, because it kind of makes it seem less...i don't know.

Once again, this is only in discussion. Woman are woman, men are men, regardless of the body they were given.

Any thoughts?

*SIGH*

Yeah, I know.

I mean for discussion on these forums, when referring to women/men in transition.

Or maybe I should just shut up?

Or maybe I should just shut up?

If someone at my work said that I'd tell them what a fine idea and swell notion it was.

Or, as my grandma used to say - better to remain quit and let everyone think you are dumb then to open your mouth and remove all the doubt.

I don't mind the term "->-bleeped-<-" but only from other "->-bleeped-<-s". Coming from anyone else, yeah, I would have to bite them.

There's a mechanic shop on my way to school which advertises on a big banner than he specialises in Rebuilt ->-bleeped-<-s. It makes me smile every time I see it, lol. I'll show you specialising, Mister  :icon_wink:

Sammy, my advice would be not to over-analyze :)

If someone expresses a personal preference, then do your best to respect that when referring to them directly.  If you're talking generically, then use whichever term seems most appropriate to the context.

On one on one basis, I use "woman" and there name.

Mostly I'm trying to figure out what to use here.

Oh, I think I see what's going on here. A good way to make friends with people, any people...but especially lonely people desperate for approval like most of us, is to ask them about themselves and then listen. Maybe compliment their outfit, or hair, jewelry, shoes, whatever but make sure it's sincere. If you throw yourself at people saying "I carrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee about yooooooooouuuuuuuuuuuuuuu" your'e going to freak them out. Just be there and talk to people, and show an interest in them. They might not want to talk about you right away, but they will once your'e established as authentic.

Oh crap...maybe that is why every "car part" in capitol hill fights over who's boyfriend I am.

I treated them like women, wanted to get to know them, cared, listened....

And now I have like a bazillion fiancees.

Crap. Maybe I should just be jerk? :)
I can't imagine maintaining sanity with like 5 wives....this isn't Utah anymore.

Unless they're (for instance) Icelandic, like me, and thus, calling them by their last name would be calling them "son/daughter of (father's name)".

For General discussion I try to stay with TG people, MTF or FTM

For individuals I find out what they prefer and go with that  :)
