Im a collector I mainly buy action figures but I couldn't help myself it was so cute. I never play with dolls when I was little but I remember being curious about them. And it was only 25 cents so why not.
I guess I have enough confidence to be a man who buys dolls :) Anyone else ever have these urges?

Haha I also bought axe today so I can smell more like a guy :D

Not dolls, but I have some hobbies/interests/etc that would be considered "girly" that I partake in nonetheless. Honestly, I'd rather be a well-rounded guy whose masculinity is not threatened by social conventions such as "guys do A, girls do B", than to let others' perceptions dictate what I can and cannot enjoy in life...

Then again, I can always blame it on spending 30 years socialized as a "girl" as not being held to the same restrictive standards as guys who are raised as guys from birth. Or push come to shove I can play the "eccentric artist" card... lol ;D

Oh, can we see it?

I only like stuffed animals and paper dolls, though.

I hate plastic ones with a burning passion.

You know I have no idea. But when I saw her at the yard sale I was like omg I remember this. She was one of the few dolls I actually liked. Most of the toys I played with were gender neutral. Im looking her up on ebay

Yeah I've done this before. I bought a collectible barbie I'd been given when I was younger but lost later on (lost as in tore off its head <_<)

More recently for some odd reason my grandmother decided to give me a Shirley Temple doll. O.O yeah I look like the kinda guy who would like those. -_-

At least it's somewhat collectible. *puts doll aside for ebay* 8)

lol. My great aunt got me a porcelain Shirley Temple doll when I was a kid.

As far as "girly things I like"....girliest thing is pry I still have a stuffed pink bunny I sleep with at night. I admit it. At least has to be sitting in the bed somewhere or I can't sleep. Everything else with me is pretty much cars, computers and video games.

I had k'nex and I would take off the heads of barbies and make monster bodies with doll heads, then made monster heads for doll bodies.... My sister hated letting me play with barbies as you can see, heh heh. I guess I was comparable to Cid in Toy Story. But hey... in the commentary the artists said that kid would grow up to be an animator and look at the feild im working in now. Coincidence?...I think not! (oh god now i'm just quoting Pixar...)

I think the girliest part of me is my soft spot for stuffed animals. I have a giant stuffed dog in my bed and he is too damn comfy and friendly to give up.

As far as dolls go in general. Anything too realistic creeps me out. My grandmother used to buy me and my sister porcelain dolls when we were little but they always gave me nightmares and I swear the eyes are so freaky. I felt like they watched me.

Dolls freak me out.  :D

Seconded.

But there's nothing wrong with being a guy and liking "girly" stuff. Who made up all these rules about what's appropriate for guys vs girls, anyway?

my (ftm) boyfriend has a hobby or two that might be considered more popular with females, but never ever have i thought "oh, it's because he was raised as a girl" ...it's just the kind of guy that he is.  actually, i think it's almost *more* manly than other guys because he is comfortable enough in his sexuality to have those hobbies or wear pink sometimes or whatever.

if you like that doll, no shame or girliness in buying it. go dolls! :)

I have a Barbie. I don't play with her particularly. I've just always wanted one. I've also collected up a few pieces of furnishings for her

Dolls give me the creeps.

I do have a small (5" or so) stuffed dog my friends and I found while out wardriving one night. T'was quite a few years ago now. I call him "DCOM the dog" . I'd like to imagine if he could bark, he'd go "Arp! Arp!"  ;).

I never liked dolls, but I did like stuffed animals. Most of my toys as a child were boys' or neutral... Star Wars, He-Man, Transformers, Lego, ect.

That doll looks scary. :o

I have a Puffalump lion! I don't keep him in my bedroom though. He's pretty awesome with his Hawaiian shirt and hoop earrings I put in him.

i always hated dolls as a kid, though i did enjoy putting the wedding dress on Ken (it was the only thing of barbie's that fit D:)

nonetheless i bought an asian ball jointed doll a few years ago....realistic but not creepy for some reason. i really need to either spiff him up and display him, or spiff him up and sell him

as for gendered hobbies....i knit. i think that's the "girliest" thing i do, but as far as traditional gender roles that's about as girly as you can get. but it's fun :D
