Miniar

The addons and features of Firefox are "neat" but once you've added one, you're bound to add another, and yet another, and yet another. It's like with tattoos, you can always get "one more"... and then, before you know it, you've got an over inflated and unstable pile of addons that you don't want to uninstall because they do "neat" things.
And then Firefox starts crashing repeatedly.
And then you start thinking of changing browsers, cause Firefox just isn't working out any more. But you want to be able to customize it, and use addons...

Me, I just want a stable browser that does the simple thing, lets me bookmark sites so I can go to them later and mill about the internet. Chrome's all that I need.
Until the addons come... oh gods... and themes..

And then I'll start customizing...

>.<

LOL Miniar, I admit I'm guilty of multiple add on adding. But for the last week now I've been using Chrome exclusively. I think I may be hooked. I love the themes and being able to search right form the address bar is awesome.

I love Firefox.

However I will agree it has become problematic instead of less problems. Not all of it is Mozilla's fault.

Flash issues drive me insane at times, and yet is a Adobe issue. Expect Adobe issues to multiply, they still have yet to embrace 64bit, which more and more are switching to.

Some of the updates have not been working very smooth either, I had to backup and reload all of my passwords and such because it messed up the file. Also slower and slower to load as it ages.

Despite all of that and more, I still prefer it. I.E. was designed by Stevie Wonder. Opera just wasn't compatible with me for some reason. I just wasn't happy with it. Google wasn't bad, but I longed for a few plugins and like the others... TOO MANY ADS! so frustrating when you can't read the page because of so much crap on them.

I didn't know Opera had the search from address bar... cool.

I actually started using it on my Linux machines because Firefox started having serious performance issues on site that used static background images like Myspace.

Th lack of 64bit flash support for Linux is annoying as hell and honestly is the soul reason that I don't use Linux 100% of the time. I run it for everything except for when I want to watch flash videos. Annoying...

There is  no 64bit flash support for any os.

True but at least it will still run on windows even if it is a 64bit version. In Linux you have to either be running a 32bit version or something like an ndiswrapper.

Flash Player on Linux is bad enough without ndiswrapper.  :D

Sort of.

To use it in 64bit windows you have to use the 32bit IE. Firefox is only 32 bit still anyhow, but even that has become  problem because some sites do not recognize that you have the newest version of Flash and say you need to install it.  >:(  Which means reverting to IE for many sites. Something I despise.

None of it seems acceptable to me. It's not like Firefox is a small portion of the population, and 64bit is not far behind it. Vista should never have been released in 32bit (it runs like crap on anything 32bit),  Win7 is the last 32bit for MS.

It's annoying when a company becomes a standard and then slacks off.

I recently added on "DownThemAll" to Firefox and now Youtube is lighting fast.  Now I can watch "V".

If you don't remember it from 1983.  Just a taste maybe.

And it is coming back in 2010

It is an add on for Foxfire that increases the speed of dowhloads.  You can go to "Tools", then "Add ons" then "Get Down Get Add Ons".  Then just type in "DownThemAll" as one word.

It really gets things like YouTube ripping.  Not as fast as DSL, but good for Wifi.

If you like Foxfire and add oons, you got get this one.

it is indeed an awesome addon. Been using it for quite a while myself... yet one more thing that makes it hard to switch.
  •

Nero

Do you mean it helps watching youtube videos have better performance or when you download to keep a video?

If its worth downloading, its worth the quarter or whatever to download it straight to a burn file, burn it, and not put it on the hard drive, or even your remote back up.
FIGHT APATHY!, or don't...

Wow......all this talk of software is giving me hot flushes...... smiles

Actually on topic I have no idea what most of you were saying, I click on my firefox icon and up pops Susan's page, I  enjoy reading what people say and don't have to get here too fast.

Off topic, may I say that Cami you look absolutely lovely and congratulations on going fulltime.

Why would you want to burn it to DVD or whatever?  YouTube vids are small, and hard disks are getting larger every day.  I've got 1.25 Tb, not including my external HDD.
