Well girls I did it! I went to a wig shop yesterday! It was so exciting. I walked in and told the gal that I was looking for an woman's wig for everyday wear and something that matched my eyes, complexion, etc.

She didn't bat an eye or ask me why or anything. She showed me some styles and tried some on in front of a mirror. The first couple were simply ok but she found one that was cheaper than the rest but also looked almost perfect. I told her that I liked the length and style but I wanted bangs because I wanted to cover up as much forehead as I could. She said that was no problem, she could cut the wig to have bangs in front! She threw a quick covering over me and proceeded in cutting the front of the wig (while it was on me) and combed it out with bangs. She said I looked very cute.

I looked in the mirror and smiled and my heart lept in my chest. I didn't have any makeup on or anything and yet staring back at me was a cute looking girl. A girl I hadn't seen in months.

The song from Mulan "Reflection" pops into my mind at that: "Who is this girl I see? Staring straight back at me?".

I've toyed with the idea in my head a few times (sleeping or not) about long hair. I've always been worried about how much I'm losing now that I'm getting older. When I was younger I had long hair and loved (most) every moment of it.

I've been thinking about the wig idea and I also would need big bangs in the front to cover my somewhat large metopic ridge (my Klingon skull as I call it). I just haven't broke down and gone out to get one going. Still in the I'm ugly stage of life I guess =/

Gratz on the wig shopping though :)

Isn't funny to go wig shopping.  Congrats on the new wig.

I recently went and purchased an new wig.  I had been thinking about it for a while now.  When I was there I got to talking to the lady about my real hair and the reason for the wig.  I was hoping she would come up with some thing to cover the balding spot.  She did not even blink when I removed the one I was wearing.  She just looked over the area and stated that I should let my hair grow a little more and then what we would do is to take a wig and cut it down to cover the area and put some clips on it to hold it.

What was funny is that my friend got to talking to her about wigs too.  And my friend mention one wig in particular.  The Lady said that one was really popular with her CD customers.  It was not some thing that "us girls' would use but the guys seem to like it.

Ether I am doing something really right  ::) , or she has other TS customers.  Ether way she was very friendly and knowledgeable.  She even recommend only washing the wig once a month and to use a silicone based shampoo and conditioner.  And I could get it at Sally's Beauty cheap.
