Hi! I found this really great site that let's you convert your foot's inches into women's shoe size

Good site, I will measured my foot and according to it I wear a 10.5.  But I have 11 that are tight.  I don't think that they take in wide sizes.  But I think it is a great non-commerical site.  I approve.

I totally agree with you though! I measured and I should be around a 10 or 11, but my feet are wide so yah!  :)

The width fitting can be a major factor, just because you have the right length, does not necessarily mean the shoe will fit.  :-\

So if you have normal width male feet you will usually need to look for shoes claiming "wide" or "extra wide" fittings. ;)

The good news is, that a lot of GG's have the same problem, so you will see womens shoes being openly advertised with wider fittings in most stores and websites.

My narrow feet which have made my life such a misery in guy shoes.... are a godsend in the ladies department... ;D

PS...Over here the UK, ladies and mens shoes are usually the same foot size !

Chrissty - what's your shoe size? :O can you translate it to EU or state if it is US/UK men/women at least ^^
These are so confusing.

My feet are wide, short but a bit wide :X probably from walking are foot at the village all my youth.

Here in GB for example a mens' size 10 is a womens' size 12.

I once watched a programme that showed a pair of princess Diana's shoes.  She had large feet for a woman.  However, her feet were very narrow like other women.

My own personal experience has been that shoes for guys & shoes for girls are two very different worlds. With guys shoes you find your size & after that, the worst thing you're likely to end up with, w/o trying them on first is a poorly made product. When it comes to ladies shoes you can crunch & crossreference all the #'s you want. If you don't try them on first, then you better make sure that you can, & they are worth returning.

My size is mens 9, but I have a narrow foot so I usually also fit a women's size 9 here which equates to a 43 EU. In some styles I need to go to a 10, because some manufacturers make their women's 9, a "small" 42 EU which is only just larger than an 8.  ::)

The usual reason people need to go up a size or two is because their feet are wider, particularly in the toe area. Most women's shoes narrow there, effectively reducing the usable length for the wrong shaped foot. ;)

An interesting shoe size conversion that includes foot and ankle widths for "standard" sizes is at the bottom of this page...

http://www.evans.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/StaticPageDisplay?storeId=12553&catalogId=20554&identifier=ev1%20size%20guide

If you look around.... most stores promote certain styles as "wider fit" or use the "e"(wider) or "eee"(extra wide) suffix on a size to denote width...eg...

http://www.evans.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=&catalogId=20554&storeId=12553&categoryId=173609&parent_category_rn=69588&productId=1278647&langId=-1

Even with an average male foot, the "eee" should fit OK size for size  :D  (but they fall off me)  ;D

The great thing here is that we can now get up to 10eee in most towns, but high fashion tends to stop at 8. I now buy most of my shoes at Evans or Brantano where they stock "try before you buy" pairs off the shelf.....but not before I burnt some bucks at the TV shops without realising a few years back.  :-\

I have worn unisex shoes almost my whole life.  Well, mostly men's I guess, things like converse, vans, etc. (hey, they're comfortable) but they have always also listed a woman's size so I had a pretty good idea of what I was looking for.  My feet have shrank over the past year, a combination of weight loss and maybe HRT I guess.  I used to wear a (US) men's 9.5 or 10 two years ago, which should be around a woman's 11.  Today I fit anywhere from 9 to 10 in womens.  I do have more weight to drop too, so I'm hoping I will drop to 8.5 in the end.  For the most part I have been lucky with guessing, the few misses that I have made in blindly purchasing have been on cheap shoes, so it doesn't bother me that much.  But the shrinking has been awesome because I bought some boots 6 months ago that I couldn't squeeze myself in to, but now they fit great :)
It also means now I need to buy more shoes since I don't really fit what I did have.  At least that's the excuse I'm telling myself

Oh but I wanted to add - I don't know how the inches to size thing could possibly be correct.  Maybe as a very general guide...  My right foot is a full inch shorter than my left foot, which according to that chart should put my right foot 3 sizes smaller.  In reality it's maybe half a size smaller, but it's not like I have to duct tape my right shoe on every morning.

Sorry about the revival, the thread looked totally worth doing it. Mmmm. I thought my feet were quite big. I've been using the 42.5 for a long time (and even bigger for mountain boots), but with 26 cm feet, I would be a... 40.5 for mens? But with wide feet, it can be tricky...

I need to study those charts and redo the measurements, I may get something cheap for some tests...

Dang... size 7 :O Most of my shoes are 8s - 9s but the 9s are very loose.
To dream of the person you would like to be is to waste the person you are.

I have 26cm feet. My feet are wide.

I wear a UK size 8 or 9 (depending on the shoe). That is a European 42 - 43

It is a bit trickier than I though. My width seems to be caused by an excess of pronation and hyperpronation. The same thing that has caused me a muscular imbalance, destroyed posture and gait, knee and ankle problems, etc, etc, etc... I may check for a subtalar implant on the following weeks, as soon as I can gather enough information.
