i called an endo today to see about getting an appointment for hrt and after spending 15 mins explaining to the lady who answered why i needed hrt i asked her if any of the 4 docs had any expierience with trans people she replied " they all do " so im feeling pretty good and she asks if she can call me back after she verifies if i need to bring in any other medical records such as my therapists recomendation which i dont have yet. When she calls back she leaves a message on my voice mail saying hrt and transgenders are not their speacialty prehaps i should go to trinadad hospital...... um hello endocrinoligist who dont speacialize in administering hormones...did i miss something here

Jesse, for *whatever* reasons many don't or won't get involved in TS therapy, depending on your age and stated history know of at least 3 in Atlanta who will prescribe after only 1 checkup visit, ask yer gender therapist (if ya have one) otherwise do what a lot of others do and once you start DIY (for self diagnostic purposs only mind you!) . . .

then find an endo and say "gee, can ya help"? 

Let me put this very clearly.  You don't need to go to an endo, any person with experience with HRT would probably do fine.  There are GPs and OB/GYNs who have just as much experience with HRT.  I have been seeing an OB/GYN for a pretty long time now, and he has extensive experience with HRT.  In fact most of the experienced doctors in the area I live in are OB/GYN or GPs with regards to this issue.  It doesn't take an endo to read a blood panel, just a somebody who has a DO or MD. 

I should note this, there is an increasing number of OB/GYNs who are going into trans health care for HRT.  Certian specialties tend to be more liberal, certian ones more conservative.  Endos happen to be one of the more conservative specialties, OB/GYNs happen to be one of the more liberal ones.  OB/GYNs are already trained how to do HRT, its part of thier speciality already.  Just most trans people are so mindwashed with the "must go see an endo", they kind of ignore the other options.   

Endos are the more expensive option, try to see if you can find a GP or OB/GYN who does it.  Thier fees are much more reasonable. 

I never went to an endo. One of our local Planned Parenthood clinic doctors handles it. She is a GP. Costs are very reasonable.  There are others in the TS treatment business who charge a lot. Four times as much in one case.

I have gynecologist treating me.

Most people in Israel probably don't get a gynecologist but I know of at least 2 gynecologist who treat and one of them even treats a large number.

Here, if you have a psychologist or therapist letter saying you should get HRT, you can just call an endo or gynecologist, although preferabley use a list of known one.
Come with the letter and get treatment.

I think there is a higher chance for a gynecologist to accept taking you under care than an endo because they might understand it's "just a woman without ovaries and uterus who needs to function like any other woman".

That's how my gynecologist seems to see it, and he's also very helpful with the rest of the details like ID it seems and finding different specialists that can help in various of fields.

Then again, I am not sure how will going to a random endo/gynecologist be like, good thing there is the list!
