Does HRT have any effect on underarm air?

Actually, on what parts of the body does HRT actually greatly reduce body hair? I have heard so many conflicting answers to this in the past but I hope someone can give me the lowdown on what the truth is exactly.

Also, how long before you notice the hair reduction? Thanks girls!

I really did not notice anything for about a year, but now most of the body hair is getting lighter.  WOO HOO.  No more shaving, except of course for the hair under the arms.  Still shave there and my legs, like any other girl.  ;D

arm pit and pubic hair get less, but quite slowly.  Shaving them (under arms) is easy as pie though, why worry.  Takes me about 30 seconds total in the shower every morning.  I use soap as my shaving lotion - so I clean and shave all at once.

I didn't have a lot of hair prior to transition (thanks to being very fair and teenage hormones) but what little I had disappeared within a year or two of SRS. I haven't even had a razor in the house since my mid-20's and couldn't muster enough fuzz to keep a peach modest!  ;D Just a luscious head of hair and a nice little triangle down south - everything else bare and smooth as a billiard ball.

Lucky.

One of the things I muse about is balancing active hair removal with expectations for HRT decreasing body hair. I'd hate to waste precious funds removing hair that would cease anyway. or get so soft and fine that it was "girl hair" (as on arms for instance) and didn't matter.

Right now, I have to shave virtually every square inch of my body some three times a week (still waiting on the money to buy that epilator) and if I had the money for laser, it would be very hard for me to resist attacking it while I waited to see what HRT would do on the subject.

Arm pit hair does get less but more than that, it is much finer. I use an epilator once every month or so everywhere.

Body hair really changed. I used to mow that stuff every week.  In fact, I wore out four epilators in as many years getting rid of it even on HRT but after the orchi, it changed a lot more so that I don't have to do much at all.

Just a slight underarm comment... ::)

.... some major companies have launched combined hair minimising and deodorant underarm products recently. :icon_wink:

Prices in the UK are reasonable at £2.50 to £3.50 for the "Sure" and "Dove" roll-on and spray products, which seem the most common (ie: about 25% higher in price than the standard product).

I have been using one for the last 3 months and the hair re-growth does seem slower/softer, and more importantly the irritation after shaving has gone (I'm not on HRT). :)

Obvoiusly individual results may vary.....

Laser!

I can't really comment on the arm pit hair as I am getting it lasered off in conjunction with my face.

Body hair seemed to lessen, but again it's hard to say.  My chest and abdomen hair thinned out and got lighter, but I am getting it lasered too.

Arm hair, I am trying to thin it out with a couple laser sessions, not enough to remove it, but to get it less "gorilla-ish".

Legs, slowly getting lasered.  I am done with shaving.  Been doing it for years, and am way too tired of it. I guess I am lazy.

Armpit hair, ish! Before hrt & then laser, that stuff would grow long enough to floss with.

My chest, leg, armpit and pubic hair before HRT was dark red, long and curly.
Renting heavy defoliating equipment was required to remove it, which resulted
in an extremely uncomfortable aftermath. Like a godsend, a year into HRT, the
difference is phenomenal. My body hair is light colored, slow growing still curly
but easily removed with the average razor available at the local family discount
store and I don't end up walking funny after shaving my pits and nether regions.
