Its been quite a while since I've posted her on Susan's so I'll say Hi once again to those I know and also to those that have arrived after I was last here.

I really have to look around on a surgery board with amazement and a somewhat humble attitude at those that have announced in the past their own surgery announcements and experiences.

It seemed like I would never reach this point and yet the last two years looking back have fairly flown by. I followed the SOC, got my two letters, did the HRT, the RLE  and the other ABC's. I listened to the best on these boards, spent a lot of hours reading threads and opinions. Quarreled a time or two and even disagreed on some methods, discounting some advice given. Most advice was spot on.

It wasn't always easy and was sometimes downright hard, but I held on to my goals and now two years after restarting my transition after a thirty five plus year hold, I am scheduled for GRS in Montreal with DR Brassard  on November, 10, 2009. Hugs

Wendy, congratulations to you! What a long, seemingly torturous at times, journey this can be, huh? But, you've made it! That has to be such a wonderful feeling. I wish for you a speedy recovery and a life time of happiness!

Dawn

p.s., Janet, I just noticed your ticker! Congratulation on your upcoming surgery, too!

Congratulations on taking charge of your life! My GF Julie Marie and I both went to Dr. Brassard and are very pleased with our surgeries. The staff there is wonderful. The aftercare may be the best around, but you still may be anxious to go home by the time your 2 weeks are up.

Be sure to bring plenty of comfy clothes and extra pairs of throw away undies. The park across the street by the river is nice to go walking in during your second week. Try and catch a cab to the local strip mall or grocery store on Rue de Salaberry during your last week there. It will do your head some good to get away from the recovery residence, IMO. Change your currency into Canadian dollars in case you need to take a taxi or buy something, you'll get a better deal that way. There's a few banks in the neighborhood of the hospital.

Tell everyone that the two Julie's said 'Hi'. Be sure to have nurse Ann take your picture and put it in the book. You can find us in the book around June of '08 and March of '09.

Good luck, you'll do fine. You are in good hands at Dr. B's clinique.

Hi Sara, I live in southern Illinois. I looked into several surgeons and talked to girls that had went to others rather than Dr Brassard. I just liked what I heard, he is one of the best and I have heard nothing to refute that. I did not wish to spend endless hours in flight so Thailand was out. His price for what he offers is unbeatable and depending what the Can/US dollar exchange is, you can actually pay less.
You ride in a limousine to and from the airport, you stay at the residence after surgery and have Nursing staff on duty. No hotel stays.  I just felt that he offered what in both pre and aftercare what I wanted. Even his staff has been open and friendly to deal with.

Dr. Christine McGinn would have been my second choice. And last but not least, what gal wouldn't want a handsome Frenchman fixing their bottom. *giggle*  :embarrassed: Well..........errr........ummm.........you did ask!

Thanks Chrissty, Dawn and Miniar. Hugs

Janet, a very special Congratulations to you also on your upcoming surgery, may everything go well for you too. Just make sure that anything they do with your Orchi will not interfere with later vagioplasty. :icon_bunch:

Julie & Julie, I would be more than pleased to pass your hello's to the staff. Were either of you there when a Colleen was there around March of this year? A question for you also if you please. Do you recommend a credit card vs cash in Canadian. My wife and adult daughter are accompanying me and will stay in Laval at a hotel. Any information on rent-a-cars would be helpful also. Thanks Ladies and hugs.

Arrived in Montreal on the 5th, waiting until 7:00 PM and will go over to the Hospital for  GRS at 7:00 AM tomorrow morning.  Passed on the message from you Julie and had a look at the photo album. Saw a lot of familiar faces and names here at 995 Rue de Salaberry in the books. Hugs all and thanks.

Good luck, Wendy. I know you will do great! You are certainly in good hands. Ann is really knowledgeable like the rest of the staff.

Thanks for passing along our hellos from the two Julies. We can now collect our referral commission!

Hi all, just a little update to say it has now been almost two months since GRS with Dr Brassard in Montreal. The experience there could not have went better. Dr Brassard and his staff are the best, caring people one could ever meet.

Everything is going well, no major problems and healing is normal. Some soreness periodically but I am going out of the house more often now and that is helping.
Hugs to All.
