Just out of curiosity.  Have you ever (if your not already full time, or when you weren't) just got dressed up for the hell of it even though your not going anywhere? Just sat at home all prettied up just to feel good?

That's what I'm up to right now... ok so I haven't done my make-up because that would mean I have to take the time to remove it before heading out to pick up my wife... but everything else :)

Yes. Occasionally I do it. For example, when I purchased a new skirt, but do not have time to go out in full dress.

I purchased that cold-shoulder shirt in Wal-mart about 4-5 years ago at less than $10. It is for juniors'. Some people commented that I look like a ladybug  >:(

But the cold-shoulder striped shirt is really FUNNY to wear. Juniors like funny stuffs. And me, too.

I like to get prettied up. But mostly I'm a blue jeans girl  :icon_chick:

Yes, I did that an awful lot when I was 13.....

I used to before RLE, but I don't seem to do it anymore.  Now if I have no reason to dress up, I just have a normal day dressed a little bit fancier than it calls for - running errands, coffee shop, meeting friends. :)

Heh I guess I didn't phrase that right.  What I meant was.  Before you were full-time (or not if you are not full time) and still dress as a male... did you ever just put on your girl clothes (any girl clothes) and fake boobs and stuff for no reason other than just to sit around and feel better about yourself

I do every day.  Most days I just use a little foundation, fill in the eyebrows, and a little lipstick and that is it for the day.  I generally just wear a bra, padding, jeans and a top round home.  Some times I do put one on of my sundresses just because.

I think the "still dressing/living as male" part is telling. When I was still living a males life I couldn't wait to get home and do exactly that, and I certainly didn't leave the house as I was too terrified of it. For awhile when out of work I would maybe leave the house an hour a day, so I could be me the rest of the time, the only way I knew how. But yeah, even a few times after being full time I would get something new, try it on , and like it so much I didn't want to take it off....oh just got this new eyeliner, why not try it, might as well finish the rest of the face, what would that one scarf look like with it? need to do nails anyways...before I knew it I was all dressed up with nowhere to go :)

Yes.  Unfortunately lately, due to the temporary return home of my son, who is not clued in to the real me, I rarely do.  I just refuse to sneak around.  I've learned it is not about the clothes - it's about me, even if certain clothes are me.

Yes again.  A girl should make an effort to look her best, even if hanging around the house.

I dress at home alone very often. Many times I have no place to go and need to dress simply because I want to. The desire is there everyday. I enjoy chatting online using the webcam with others all over the world. I have met friends from many countries with similar interests and always have fun.

For a while I had a job that was very stressful and that I really disliked.  It was five minutes from my house.  I would drive home at lunch time, get dolled up, eat my lunch, reluctantly dress back in drab, and go back to work.

I think the dressing up is a common stress-reliever for many of us.  And my experience and what I've read here indicate that when it keeps building and building at some point you have to either come out as a cross-dresser or begin thinking seriously about transitioning.

Speaking for myself these days dressing up would be for my self-esteem. I live at home and dress pretty androgynous (slacks, tennis shoes, girl t-shirts, earrings). I've come to the point where I've finally made up my mind and am heading in a direction I believe in.

I am in school and see girls dressed up in cute clothes and they have their hair done. I begin to feel almost jealous. I can't quite just throw on girly girly clothes at home b/c I live with my parents so...they're not quite ready for the sudden change in appearance.

So a smart confident look is what will do me a world of good these days. That and a nice vacation somewhere I can just be me :)

yeah i did/do that myself sometimes. its actually how i got busted in Junior high school.

Yes I do that.

It helps to have something new to try - new clothes, or a new item of makeup. Putting on the same old stuff gets old.

I wouldnt call it dressing up...but I wear girl clothes every day at home...its just like any girl would do, I guess...I dont always do makeup...again, as any bio girl would I guess, its just normal to me.

Nothing wrong in looking nice, no matter who it's for.  If it's just for yourself, that's fine.  Being at home does not always have to equal looking like a slob (which eventually spills outside the home - see people wearing pajama bottoms out in public).

I only refer to it as dressing up, because the majority of the time I am dressed as a male, as I'm not anywhere near trying to go full time or anything yet.

And here I was thinking about getting a nice pair of flannel bottoms.
